You are very talanted!!! I love your videos. Thanks for sharing. I wnat to learn how to make fondant cake too. I live in sweden and we do not have so much to choose in stores. There is not that many range of stores over here. Just few town has and on internet. Does tools and fondant sell in the superstore in the us?
Very nice! Have you considered covering your cake boards with fondant and trimming the edge in ribbon? I think it would make your cake look even more professional.
thanks :) since this was one of my first cakes... i discovered that a bit later on as you can see with my other cakes. i have a tutorial on how to make homemade boards too :) thanks a lot :)
haha.. i know it sounds funny to some, but it;s tradition for us. first 11 months are celebrated every month, then the birthday...then the usual yearly birthday :)
Ok, I will, thanks. I saw your video just few months ago and its really amazing, Im chocolate addicted also hehe. I just asked because I guess in Brazil fondant is another thing, but I think there you call fondant that material which you use to cover the cake, is it? And so inside you can put whatever you want.
i believe it is chocolate :) it has been so long since i made this but we're such chocolate lovers im sure i made it a chocolate cake :) i have an updated version of this cake and you can browse my videos and see it too :) Thanks
can u plz show me how to make a winnie the pooh fondant cake? i want to make the cake for my friends baby shower, her theme is winnie the pooh. thanks
Is there anyway you can post how to make the cake step by step!!! My sister in law is having a bumble bee themed baby shower and I need to make a bee hive!! please please please!!!! =)
Having read another comment on your blog, I see that this cake design is from Debbie Brown. Do you happen to know which book it's from as I'd like to get myself a copy :-D
Hi , great cake ive watched all your videos and its inspiriing me to bake this too!
Anyway I have debbie browns book - she uses the maderia sponge cake recipie for the actual cake - do you use this too? or do you use a different recipie?
Cute cake! But how do you cut and serve this cake? Also how do you cut your topsy turvy cake so you have even pieces? I'm subscribed to you and love your cakes. You do good work. Thanks also for responding to a question I had on another cake :) I was thinking of making and selling cakes like these but I'm not sure it would be profitable enough since it is surprising on what it actually costs to make a stacked cake.
I love this Debbie Brown creation! I have all of Debbie's books and enjoy making her beautiful creations as well!! Your cake looks just as hers does in her book,so you did a fantastic job re-creating!! :) Great job!
Thanks!! I can't believe you answered so quickly!! I understand everything you said, and thank you for answering my question. I didn't know what "buttercream icing" was, but I looked it up in my dictionary and we call it "glasé". It's made of sugar, isn't it?
Excuse me, I wanted to ask you sth because I'm preparing my son's first birthday, does the cake has to be completely plain before you put the fondant? if so, how do you keep it plain (I mean if I previously stuff the cake it becomes irregular)
Hi. Thank you. If I understand correctly -- after the cake has the filling put in all the layers... you will need to 'carve' the sides of each layer to make it look like the beehive. Then cover the whole cake with buttercream icing- then put it in fridge for a few hours -- then you can put the fondant :) email me if you have any questions . Thanks again
I love this cake i will be trying it next try. for now its my first time so im going with something easier, Im still not clear on how you got the top round part? and also did u use those sticks to put one cake on top of the other, or did u just stack them like that.
the round top part was made by molding the cake scraps from the bottom tiers-- i used a small soup bowl and I cling wrapped it shut for a while , and then it came out like that-- dense and shaped perfectly for the top of a beehive. At that time i did not use dowels cause i did not know how to use them-- the cake was not very heavy so it was able to stand on its own.
Hi thre. I would want to see your cake when you're done !!! The sizes are 8, 6 and 4. The 4 inch cake pan was from a mini-cake set from wilton ( there were 3 in the set )... and i squeezed the 4 inch flat cake along with the cake scrap from the first 2 layers when i had to carve the sides to make sides 'rounded or curved'-- i put them in a small bowl ( exactly the shape that the top layer took )and i clingwrapped it there for some minutes to come up with a more solid top layer :)
I am doing this cake for my daughter's 1st b-day and also my 31st. Her whole room is done in bumblebees because her name is Kirbee! I have never made a cake like this, but I really want it to work. How did you make the entrance of the hive?
that is too cute!!!after the cake has been covered with the second layer of buttercream...and is pretty much ready for the fondant... i carved the entrance out-- a small steak knife is what i used. And after the yellow fondant is laid...a slab of black fondant gives the entrance a 3d effect and highlights it as well. i hope it all goes well ...and happy birthday to both of you!
ate! is this you!!? i saw this video 2 months ago! who would ever think this was u! u sound different! I LOVE UR CAKES! i just saw ur friendster post and the pictures looked familiar so i looked for this video! lo and behold- it is u! ur amazing! i am ur number 1 fan!

Thanks for appreciating this cake, I loved making it as well :) Gimme a ring when you're here in the US!
Thank you! Im pretty sure you can make this since it is easy to make. I think I posted somewhere here how I made the top tier -- since that was from using an ordinary soup bowl :) You wont need a special cake pan to give that round top. Let me know how it goes! ( PS there's a short bee tutorial here too ) Take care!
This cake is FABULOUS!!! I am wanting to do a bumblebee nest for my son's first- 'I can't bee-lieve you are 1!!!'... I was wondering what size cakes are underneath the fondant?? Is it 8', 6', and what?? Your help would be greatly appreciate it!! Thanks!
