I love how YouTube is full if professionals when it cones to comments, but I bet none if you fags could play this, and he has a video up of him playing the beat right. And a herta is a word dumb fuck. Before any of you tell shit post a video if you playing it.
@BurnThePope0514 You don't need to be able to play something to be able to look at sheet music and tell it's incorrect.
I'm a guitarist, so obviously I can't play the drum part. However, I can read music, and this is not what Haake plays. He should have just stuck with the video.
Kosmadrummer I give ya credit for trying. But a herta is written as a 8th note triplet but it's like two 16ths and then two 8th notes make any sense cuz notation cuz confusing
I don't even know what people say is wrong. If you speed this up to the songs tempo it will sound just the same. The only thing I see and hear is wrong is the china. It's 8th notes and not 4th.
good but some of the notation was wrong. the cymbals are playing quavers with a a strong accent on the beat and almost a ghost note on the off beat. also the bass beat comprises of 2 32nd notes and 2 semiquavers repeated in a. there are also ghost notes in the left hand in between the right handed hi - hat quavers. hope this helps anyone.
this is completely correct. Get the song on mp3, play it using vlc media player (or whatever you use) and slow it down to 0.67% normal speed and it sounds like this video.
Everyone is really arguing over the note values of each hit? its written in marching as the video says, call it whatever you want give the notes whatever value its just going end up being like in this video in its simplest form
Oh another Lars discussion in the comments? Allow me to sum it up quickly: Lars is good, great even, but he's not a modern metal drummer. Contemporary metal drums are far more technical, you have triplets and double bass bursts flying from all over the fucking place, he doesn't do that.
This is a really weird way of notating it out. It'd be easier if you had it in 3/4 with solid hits on the quarter notes up top and then 4 herta's set up in duple down underneath.
This sounds like EZdrummer - Drumkit from Hell to my ears, which would explain why the sheet music doesn't look as good as it should. It's probably made in Cubase (or similar) where the notation has been quantized to 16th notes, making all the 32nd notes in the repeating rhythm riff (32nd, 32nd, 16th, 16th) group together within a 16th note pattern, resulting in those double notes like the second 16th of the first bar. The correct rhythm had been showed if this had been quantized to 32nd notes.
Ok, the reason this doesnt sound right is because it's like half speed. The written notes ARE wrong, but the actual product of whatever this program did is right. the pattern is xxx x xxx x xxx x xxx x xxx x xxx x xxx etc...
Too bad Herta is a made up word. If you mean, "Hemiola" then you are a jackass. Don't go knocking other people for something you would never attempt yourself.
@austinlevesque suahsuashauahhaahahah...you.. uses often appoint Herta ... as if you just learned ... as the bride and kids flaunt new knowledge hsuahsuahsuahsuahsuahsua
@thesilentcircus789 uhhh...im pretty sure YOUR stupid but okay. why dont you look it up. i had the amazing chance to meet the entire band at a show and i personally asked their drummer and he said the entire song is composed of hertas sooo....congrats on being totally wrong fag.
@thesilentcircus789 im aware. what i dont get is how you called me stupid when i was right the entire time dude hahahaha. i simply said that this video was wrong in the sense that it was way too slow. chill fag-___-
@austinlevesque you're fucking ignorant to a lot of things, as we all are also(even me), so quit trying to make yourself seem smart! Do you know what a parallax is? What about quarks and gluons? Do you even know how to make a homopolar motor? don't be a fucking asshole ok?! there's plenty of things other people know more than others, and there's plenty of things that some people don't know jack shit about, do you know what illuminati is(no not the "conspiracy" define "illuminati" and its origin)
@austinlevesque for fucks sake your completely wrong. Ive been playing drums with metal bands for nearly 21 years, toured all over the world and I can tell ypu quite explicitly that a herta is a type of frankfurter from England. So there.
@austinlevesque This is Herta you fuck nut..!! its played at a slower tempo, and this is only for the beginning part.. Theres many parts in the song, The only difference is that the placing of those Hertas within those beats..
@austinlevesque Just becauset it's a polyrythym doesn't mean that individual instruments change time. I don't have a great ear for drums, but it sounds to me like they're in 4/4 for most of the song, with the guitars playing odd time over them. Even if it's not all correct anyway, there's no sense in trolling this kind of stuff. After all, if you're good enough to play polyrythyms well, the internet is going to offer you much help. Not to mention odd time (and hertas) is Greek to most drummers.
yea i have to agree, these bars are wrong, the music in the backround seems right but at a slower tempo then bleed. Idk why theres all16th notes.....and wtf is a bass clef doin there? Idk about the rest of you but i didnt learn to write music like this i know us drummers write SOME things differently here and there such as note placement and note symbols but we do have a clef ya know.....and p.s. whoever says lars uldrich is awsome is fuckin retarded. Listen to a real drummer like derek roddy.
Comparing Lars to this guy? That's like comparing apples and oranges. Lars isn't a tech metal drummer. Lars is hardly a metal drummer. He's one of the most rocky metal drummers ever. And he isn't that tight, either. But why did he get brought up on here in the first place? Compare this to freaking Portnoy or Lopez or something, at least there is SOME room to compare with those people. Not a whole lot, but more than with a Lars comparison.
It's written wrong. The kick double hits should start right on the first beat. The audio is correct. well, minus the missing ghost notes on the snare and the missing 8's on the china.
it goes again the same with the vocals then when it changes 1st guitar pauses the 2nd starts with 1 1 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 1 1 2 1 and the both start the next pattern wich is
@AtanasovPeter Apparently you can't even tell the difference between two 32nd + two 16th notes and four straight 32nd notes. I don't have to be able to play this song in order to tell right from wrong. I've been playing for less than 1½ year, bro. @SgtArmyGuy666 its is right but it doesnt sstart from teh begining of the partiture also its not something insane as people thing
its just (tu tru tu) repaeting you just have to see where the crashes hit each and then you get rotation adn its nothing you should look your feet a bit too when to hit right and when to hit left XD
I have to agree, if this is the intro then it ain't correct. just listening to it, it doesn't feel like the intro at all, or any part of Bleed for that matter
@TheWhiteUnicorn the song is called bleed and its actually a very good/complex song idk i just find it amazing that they can do more with 4 notes then most bands can do with a full fretboard
yeah i'm not contesting that at all, it is pretty awesome. but the song as a whole and i think the vocals have a lot to do with it is just boring. I think i needs variation. But yeah like i said thats just my opinion
No Tomas is a good drummer there's no denying that, I'm not saying he's the first to do a poly rhythm, he's not, I'm not saying he's untouchable either. But the way meshuggah writes their music, and Tomas comes in and writes his bass drum parts to be in exact sync with what the guitars do, while doing steady work on the upper half of the kit.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
haake is such a POS drummer. He is by far the most overated drummer in the history of music besides joey jordison and lars ulrich. Drummers should spend thier time learning richard christy
he's not overated man. Meshuggah is deceiving difficult. to be able to play all of their songs live perfectly is just mind boggling. I'd like to see you play a Meshuggah set sir.
and for all of the lars haters out there. he is not a shitty drummer. he may not be able to play greg bissonette or terry bozzio stuff. or even meshuggah for that matter, but he's still a good solid drummer and was part of a legendary band. there wouldn't be a lot of metal bands out there right now if it wasn't for metallica.
But that's the thing: he isn't solid. He's one the sloppiest motherfuckers out there. Were he actually able to pull off his own songs live, then no one would have anything bad to say.
You need to get your ears checked man. I've seen every live video possible, I've seen them live and he's spot on man. And i know its not me cuz i know their songs backwards and forwards. Why do you and other people have to hate on people who have their shit down and are actually talented. It's rediculous. Maybe instead of investing your time in talking trash about someone who's talented, you should try and be good at something yourself.
and if you look at live videos and listen carefully to the album version, he does a sort of shuffle with ghost notes on the cymbal and snare. probably helps him count it better
i no. but thrash fits into a classic style being that it started a while ago. so out of the 3 catagories it fits in. i no metallica was one of the first thrash bands and people get pissed when theyre called classic metal and people refer to call them true metal. idrc. im not hear to argue over it.
@Bramsay2009 hes a GOOD drummer.......thats about all there is to say about him, hes good. nothing more nothing less. his works appreciated, but there are far better than him without a doubt
@Bramsay2009 If you don't know who billy cobham is before you search his name up on google after reading this comment, you do NOT know shit about drums.
you obviously don't know shit if you think lars is better than tomas haake.
And lars has been playing drums since before i was born and he stills blows.
accept it, don't act like your opinions are facts since you've been playing music for longer. If that's the case then ringo starr is the greatest drummer according to the people who have been around longer than you.
Then why do you get so offended when i say that he is better than lars? i mean seriously, any drummer out of his "METALLICA IS THE ONLY BAND EVER" phase can tell you that lars is not that good.
what the fuck do you mean more creative? how can you come up with music that has rank fucking polyrhythmic stucture, odd riff cycles and complex rotating time signatures that incorporate ridiculous tempo changes and not be creative? lars' style is a metaphorical toddler in comparison to haake
@SirBaga Some people really are that good.

not taking the piss out of meshuggah and not denying the talent therein, but blood is just a plain boring song.
TheWhiteUnicorn 2 years ago
@TheWhiteUnicorn the song is called bleed and its actually a very good/complex song idk i just find it amazing that they can do more with 4 notes then most bands can do with a full fretboard
atthegates2112 1 year ago
yeah i'm not contesting that at all, it is pretty awesome. but the song as a whole and i think the vocals have a lot to do with it is just boring. I think i needs variation. But yeah like i said thats just my opinion
TheWhiteUnicorn 1 year ago
PhiyukYu doesn't understand that christy and haake came from different type of music..
between death and messhuggah there is a big time gap..
A DRUMMER HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO DO EVERY KIND OF MUSIC..FROM GRIND TO FAG-POP...
Arcaddio33 2 years ago 2
No Tomas is a good drummer there's no denying that, I'm not saying he's the first to do a poly rhythm, he's not, I'm not saying he's untouchable either. But the way meshuggah writes their music, and Tomas comes in and writes his bass drum parts to be in exact sync with what the guitars do, while doing steady work on the upper half of the kit.
Yeah far from over rated.

haake is such a POS drummer. He is by far the most overated drummer in the history of music besides joey jordison and lars ulrich. Drummers should spend thier time learning richard christy
PhiyukYu 2 years ago
he's not overated man. Meshuggah is deceiving difficult. to be able to play all of their songs live perfectly is just mind boggling. I'd like to see you play a Meshuggah set sir.
FunkyAlfonzo 2 years ago 4
and for all of the lars haters out there. he is not a shitty drummer. he may not be able to play greg bissonette or terry bozzio stuff. or even meshuggah for that matter, but he's still a good solid drummer and was part of a legendary band. there wouldn't be a lot of metal bands out there right now if it wasn't for metallica.
FunkyAlfonzo 2 years ago
But that's the thing: he isn't solid. He's one the sloppiest motherfuckers out there. Were he actually able to pull off his own songs live, then no one would have anything bad to say.
GGov86 1 year ago
You need to get your ears checked man. I've seen every live video possible, I've seen them live and he's spot on man. And i know its not me cuz i know their songs backwards and forwards. Why do you and other people have to hate on people who have their shit down and are actually talented. It's rediculous. Maybe instead of investing your time in talking trash about someone who's talented, you should try and be good at something yourself.
FunkyAlfonzo 1 year ago 2
dooood. When are you going to take this down?

Metalhead7517 2 years ago 3
and if you look at live videos and listen carefully to the album version, he does a sort of shuffle with ghost notes on the cymbal and snare. probably helps him count it better

exactly! exept like 200 BPM with the hands playing at half time

lars is better with classic metal. haake is good with 'alternative experimental metal'
Beastmond10 2 years ago
Classic Metal? Dude Lars doesn't even play it, he plays Thrash Metal. Cacophony is a Neo-Classic Metal band.
Jagguar20 2 years ago
i was just sticking to 3 main genres of metal. Classic metal, Metal, Heavy metal. They're so many sub genres i didn't feel like getting technical.
Beastmond10 2 years ago
Lars only plays Thrash.
Jagguar20 2 years ago
i no. but thrash fits into a classic style being that it started a while ago. so out of the 3 catagories it fits in. i no metallica was one of the first thrash bands and people get pissed when theyre called classic metal and people refer to call them true metal. idrc. im not hear to argue over it.
Beastmond10 2 years ago
I thought you were refering to Neo-Classic Metal (Like Ywngie Malmsteem, etc.). Sorry lol
Jagguar20 2 years ago
lol. nah. its all good
Beastmond10 2 years ago
Your a F**kin moron, anyone that says lars is a good drummer obviously doesnt know S**t about drums.
Bramsay2009 2 years ago 49
Nope, fuck you, Meshuggah is better than that shit. PERIOD
Jagguar20 2 years ago 4
@Bramsay2009 hes got some good beats like in fuel but hes not my favorite or the best at all
tyler713247 1 year ago
@Bramsay2009 oh well we can't say lars is a shit on drums, or? he just let everything go and now he is more relaxed then in the middle-80s :D
Astonmartin4444 1 year ago
@Bramsay2009 he is a good drummer, he's just not the best
1S0AR 1 year ago
@Bramsay2009 hes a GOOD drummer.......thats about all there is to say about him, hes good. nothing more nothing less. his works appreciated, but there are far better than him without a doubt
Boristhaspydr 1 year ago
@Bramsay2009 If you don't know who billy cobham is before you search his name up on google after reading this comment, you do NOT know shit about drums.
FartKnockaz 1 year ago
would be even better if he only used one bass drum
col33145 2 years ago
XDD wow
metallica are legendary.. BUT
Lars blows dogs for quarters and should never mbe compared to tomas haake
MetalHead42694 2 years ago 3
The amount of sure ignorance in your statement just astounds me.
sesstreets 2 years ago
How so?
MetalHead42694 2 years ago
"Metallica is legendary"
There's nothing more to write. Lars is a fantastic drummer for them.
sesstreets 2 years ago
"for them"
exactly.
but people playing for 1 year can be better than lars.
and ive seen your profile your a guitarist. so you have no idea what your talking about
MetalHead42694 2 years ago
I'm a musician. I've been in music for 15 years, if 4/26/94 is your birthday then I've been in music since you were born.
Please don't act tough and tell people they don't know what they're talking about = )
sesstreets 2 years ago
lmao go you.
you obviously don't know shit if you think lars is better than tomas haake.
And lars has been playing drums since before i was born and he stills blows.
accept it, don't act like your opinions are facts since you've been playing music for longer. If that's the case then ringo starr is the greatest drummer according to the people who have been around longer than you.
MetalHead42694 2 years ago
Ahhh thats the best part. Where did I say that Lars is better than your precious Tomash Haake. Go ahead. Look.
sesstreets 2 years ago
Then why do you get so offended when i say that he is better than lars? i mean seriously, any drummer out of his "METALLICA IS THE ONLY BAND EVER" phase can tell you that lars is not that good.
MetalHead42694 2 years ago 4
Check out my vocabulary and calm tone. I'm really not the one in this situation getting all upset.
sesstreets 2 years ago
I CAUGHT YOU, TROLL.

lars isn't good anymore, but back in the day he was really good. they're all washed up now, but thats not the point.

Define better i mean Lars seems more creative to me? Skill vs Creativeness
sebastianjwalker 2 years ago
@sebastianjwalker Not really creative, sorry, if you call 4/4 time signatures with a steady rock beat creative then i guess so
MetalHead42694 2 years ago
what the fuck do you mean more creative? how can you come up with music that has rank fucking polyrhythmic stucture, odd riff cycles and complex rotating time signatures that incorporate ridiculous tempo changes and not be creative? lars' style is a metaphorical toddler in comparison to haake
MetalGuitarist99 2 years ago 2
Sorry, should have written that other post here.
