There is a difference between a vegetarian and a vegan. I have been I Pollo-Vegetarian my whole life. I am definitely a vegetarian and would never become a vegan or start eating red meat. No matter what you are as long as you comfortable with yourself it's fine.

Normally I just tell people that I avoid the exploitation of all animals in areas I can think of and people just label me as "vegan". Agreeably the chicken had to be slaughtered before it is consumed disqualifies your friend from claiming full vegetarian. But using the term semi-vegetarian is much better. Pollo-vegetarians eat mainly poultry but avoid red meat. If eating only fish as your primary source of animal protein makes you a pesco-vegetarian, why not pollo-vegetarian. To each it's own.

Alot of people mix up vegetarian and vegan....a vegetarian's diet consist of eating things of fruit and vegetables that doesnt have egg or dairy. A Vegan also doesn't do dairy products or anything with use of an animal such as fur and so on....

I was vegi for many years meaning no animals but now I do eat meat (albeit rarely), I don't class myself as vegi. I know in India it's very simple- either you are a vegi (includes dairy except eggs) or non-vegi (eat eggs, fish and/or meat) or sub-group eggetarians (vegi but eat eggs). No vegi eats chicken. I started eating meat because due to a heart operation, my circulation was bad. Animals suffer because of profit greed, not because we are not meant to eat them and be what makes you happy.
@kittykrazy1187 Unless eating organic, vegetables are GM anyways and most people can't afford to eat organically or ethically when it comes to meat as well because of the way the system is engineered. I always buy free range eggs and even get organic baked beans- it's about the source of where your food comes from, not necessarily whether you are a vegi or meat-eater. Each to their own- wanna be a vegi, be one. Don't wanna be, then don't be but don't cross wires and interfere with others' lives.
If one is a moral vegetarian then the objective is to reduce animal suffering or at least not to be someone who has contributed to it. But one does not have to be absolutist - yes, ideally we would all have sufficient capacity for altruism to completely forego all meat etc, and never be tempted etc. But giving in once in a while is not such a big deal. Every little counts and recommending cutting-down meat consumption rather than abstinence might well be more effective.
i have a friend that was a vegitarian for 6 months. one day we were just hanging out and i was eating Chic-Fil-A. and he totally caved. it was so hilarious. He ate all my freakin chicken xD i lost all my Lunch and his six months of effort just went right down the drain.

Agreeably the chicken had to be slaughtered before it is consumed disqualifies your friend from claiming full vegetarian. But using the term semi-vegetarian is much better. Pollo-vegetarians eat mainly poultry but avoid red meat. If eating only fish as your primary source of animal protein makes you a pesco-vegetarian, why not pollo-vegetarian. To each it's own.

Alot of people mix up vegetarian and vegan....a vegetarian's diet consist of eating things of fruit and vegetables that doesnt have egg or dairy. A Vegan also doesn't do dairy products or anything with use of an animal such as fur and so on....
These two can be a confusing factor. But If your Vegetarian stick to what you claim you are...but unfortunately i sorry but i am a meat eater. Everybody has a choice and what they choose is their life and decisions. Some say its healthy i disagree

I was vegi for many years meaning no animals but now I do eat meat (albeit rarely), I don't class myself as vegi. I know in India it's very simple- either you are a vegi (includes dairy except eggs) or non-vegi (eat eggs, fish and/or meat) or sub-group eggetarians (vegi but eat eggs). No vegi eats chicken. I started eating meat because due to a heart operation, my circulation was bad. Animals suffer because of profit greed, not because we are not meant to eat them and be what makes you happy.

If one is a moral vegetarian then the objective is to reduce animal suffering or at least not to be someone who has contributed to it. But one does not have to be absolutist - yes, ideally we would all have sufficient capacity for altruism to completely forego all meat etc, and never be tempted etc. But giving in once in a while is not such a big deal. Every little counts and recommending cutting-down meat consumption rather than abstinence might well be more effective.
