Lennon had stated in the early fifties that if he were ever in a band and the bass player died, he would ask that dead bass player to turn him on in the backmasking of one of the band's songs.

McCartney has, and had at the time, dozens and dozens of family members and close friends who would have noticed, and reported, an imposter.
