I am jealous over this guy. I have gone whale watching and I was lucky enough to see some breaching of these beauties (the humpback). I was also very close to a mother and baby. That was special. However this had to be very cool to see and be around.

Like us they also have social gatherings where they play, sing and dance! Then they go to work .. look for food, travel etc. They are wonderful in every single way!!!

Well, my mother, in the foreground of that first shot, was about your height (or just a bit shorter)... perhaps that helps? I watched this video and thought about the size of whales as well. They seem to belong to a different world- a different order of magnitude- and we're just teeny weeny squirrels by comparison!

So fantastic, The gentle giants. these are some of the most amazing creatures on the planet. I still can't beleive we almost hunted them to near extinction, and we think we are intelligent. huh!!! Thank you for sharing these wonderful videos with us. It makes me want go back to the 60's and start protesting whaling again. Keep up the great work.

I know what you mean about wanting to go back to the 60s. But still there's more protesting to be done, for as the whale numbers bounce back, so does the commercial pressure to hunt them. Certain members of our species seem incapable of valuing anything other than in dollars and cents (or rather, yen)! You're right: it isn't very intelligent.

I find it so remarkable that although their tail slapping seems aggressive all the while their bodies are gently gliding thru the water like a ballet dancer on tiptoes. I just love the songs they sing ;) Happy Easter Trish & Wally! xoxoxoxox
