The flag can be removed from sprints p2k account managemnt software stopping the upgrade. It looks like you only have 1 bar of signal which will fail the update. the unfortuanate part is sprints network will not tell you that. The other reasons can be a firmware probem in the device or Sprint is having PRL "Preferred Roaming List" update problems in your area. You device reboots based on manufacture design after update. some devices will reboot after update or update attempt some won't.
if it was forced, that could be dangerous.. imagine if you were trying to call 911

I ran my Sprint phone over with a truck. Solved all the problems I've had with the damned thing.

Thats the PRL update that keeps failing. Bypass it by placing a call to 611 instead of *2.

Its only forced by using *2. I couldn't contact sprint unless using the toll free number.
