I hope everyone had a good Christmas and 2012 is a healthy and prosperous period for you all, Ihope your shaving is as good as your life and vice versa
Ahh see ya tried those Astra blades, ehh they're well enough for how cheap they are. Got my futur on Christmas so I was trying the same thing, I'm gonna try it with a wilkinson sword next!
@Beamerking44 Very impressed with the Astras,I' thinking Feather like, but quite agressive too, they work so well in the Futur, the second or third shaves are much better than the first....
Happy Holidays Stephen! I do enjoy your videos and topics you talk about. If you mind me asking, what did you use as a grip for your Merkur Futur? Have a good one!
@Anniyan86 they are off a cheap pen bought from local supermarket when the pen ran out I pusched it off the pen and roled it onto the merkurs handle works a treat my dewin jagger needs it as well as its a tasd slipy
@sfaragher Thanks for the quick response. I would like to say that my Merkur Futur has arrived today and quite excited to try it out tomorrow morning. Pretty hefty and heavier than the Merkur 38C which I started out with. I primarily use my EJ DE89L and Merkur 1904 CComb with RED IPs.
Great video Steve! I was curious to know if you had any advice on how to form an even goatee? I seem to have trouble with getting the lines straight and angled symmetrically. BTW, I'm using a 1967 Gillette Super-Speed. I have found it to be a bit cumbersome shaving with a short handled razor, especially where any kind of shaping is involved. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
@Adamfountainmusic apart from using a ruler the goatee thing perplexed me for ages I dont think I ever get mine totally equal and dont try to get it spot on everyday, I usually try and define the outline once a week and use touch more than sight if that makes sense, The other thing about goatees is where the edges should be mine used to taper along my chin but now the edges go north south
@Adamfountainmusic or Smart S(?) about £7 on ebay and also the wilkinson classic about £5 on amazon and you get five blades with that, get one of those and like it then then maybe go for a edmund jagger thinks it de 89 thats long and heavy and gives a great shave about £30
Thanks Steve for putting this together on Christmas day, do appreciate you taking time to do it. Look forward to seeing you on stickkam. Vesele Vanoce ( Merry Christmas) from Czech. PS glad to see the Astras working out for you. I've found that after the second shave with a new blade they bed in and are much more pleasant.
steve I can't seem to find your Facebook page could you give me a link please!?
