@gerrardtkd ive never seen twisting kick anywhere else other than tkd but it aint effective in any real situation.Its very likely from taekyon since choi only studied that and shotokan for a few years before proposing the name tkd.
@billysue2 Hence the reason I said the technique was created by the General. How can you say that a low twisting kick isn't effective in any real situation, unless your thinking of doing it as a high kick? Its possibly one of the most used kick in self defence terms - to the bottom of the inside knee! Your possibly thinking about performing the technique too much I reckon. However, I train with a guy that does Systema and he also agrees and says its a very effective kick in self defence terms!
@gerrardtkd So youve been standing beside hundred of different black belts when they dropped someone with a twisting kick to the knee in street situations?The last person id listen to on self defense is anyone who does systema,a crock of shit right next to tkd.Some tkd schools are good enough but tend not to be itf or wtf affiliated
@billysue2 You talk some tosh son. Every street situation is different, hence the reason there are many martial arts with both advantages and disadvantages! Why are you dissing Systema? You gotta wake up and smell the coffee before you embarrass yourself even more.
@gerrardtkd knowing what tech was the most used in self defense would require having witnessed thousands of incidents with tkd involved,obviously nobody has done that.The reasons there are many martial arts is cultural,zero to do with practicality since most arent effective at all.Systema has no credibility amongst fighters and serious coaches,its a joke.An expensive one.
@uxbridge1815 he was a second dan,normally that would take about 6 yrs but in japanese colleges black belts can be gotten in a year due to the frequency of the training.even if he did take 6 yrs thats very inexperienced for someone to claim to found a style.In reality he was just mixing shotokan and teakyon based on very little experience and none of combat but he had a lot of help from other senior masters in the preexisting kwans like nam tae hee,kim bok man etc.

Can anybody tell me what the two kicks performed at 1:28 and 1:31 are and where they're striking to?
XDSocks 1 year ago
@XDSocks
Hey dude,
these two kicks are high twisting kicks - believe it or not, this kick is only used within Taekwondo as the General created it.
In self defence terms, its used low to the lower or upper inside knee, or even groin. Works a treat!
