  • Beautiful instrument! You answered the questions I posed on your other video. I use harp strings--I've never heard weed eater twine sound so good! Have you compared it to other materials? Did you pick it up yourself or have you been to Mali? I've been playing a kind of hybrid douson'goni for a few years now and would love to communicate with you about it.

Glad you like the instrument. I've been very happy with the strings and thus havent really tried anything else. The first one of these was built out of necessity (had a performance we wanted to use it for the next week) and thus I had little time to experiment with different strings. I've definitely thought of trying other strings but been working on too many other projects to worry about it. Unfortunately, I have not been to Mali yet but hope to someday. I'd love to see

  • your instrument. Did you build it or where did it come from? I've taught myself to play and I came across doson'goni through Don Cherry's album Multikulti and his work with Codona. Send me a private message and we'll talk.

    Thanks,

    Sean
