The simulated fake stereo version of this song from the doulble Buddy Holly "a rock and roll collection" best of LP circa 1973 is the only time that ill advised procedure actually sounds pretty cool.
@BunWackettBuzzard Had he survived, he probably would've wound up like the Everly Brothers and Ricky Nelson, making great music but getting ignored by radio stations that wanted to keep '50s artists in the '50s.
@jcrobso I had the old record player that my sis and I used to sit and listen to Buddy Holly on restored. I sent it to her for Christmas. She still has all those of 45's and couldn't wait to open her gift and start spinning Buddy, and Fats, and Elvis, and Ricky, and all the great ones!
@eoj2495 You mean Blind Faith's version.....Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ric Grech, and Ginger Baker. Traffic was another of Winwood's groups, but I don't think they ever did this song.

@MaMort The same as "Words of Love" by the Beatles. I thought it was a McCartney/Lennon piece.

the greatest of them all! no doubt about it.

This sounds like one of those country-rock songs that the Eagles or Rick Nelson did in the early '70s, proving that Holly was ahead of his time...

I hear slight differences in the version of this song I recall hearing and ones I own, perhaps it's the speed. Thank you so much for posting this!
