Wow, I am american and you're accent is absolutely amazing! If I hadn't have watched your other videos, I honestly would have assumed you were a native english speaker in the United States.

Inglese o Americano ?
Dang man. You're English is really good. I wouldn't doubt you were American if you told me so. A bit ironic though that you mispronounced pronunciation :P Anyways, great job! Wish I could speak as many languages as you can.
Luca sei proprio un mito !! in tuttle le lingue che parli di cui ho qualche conoscenza riesci a fare un accento davvero bravo, sono stupefatto! allora son sicuro che tutti qua ti dicono che sei bravo...et alors c'est vrai mais je voudrais savoir qu'est-ce que tu as fait pour parler talement bien dans tutes les langues que tu parles!! you don't look old man ,do you just listen to stuff and study by yourself or have you been and done courses abroad?cmq da un inglese ormai un po' milanese Bravo!

haha. ur english accent is good. but u speak very nasally. Relax ur voice. And your nose. You'll deff get it right. I mean your great now. So there's not much to improve.
I was surprised to find out that english isn't your native tongue and that you are italian. Your american accent rules! There is a hint of something else in it, but unless you told someone where you are from, no one would know.
I am American and I understand you perfectly. But, it is obvious, that you are not a native speaker of English. Your accent is a little exxagerated, and the grammar is slightly awkward. But, hey you speak 8 languages! That is alot of words! More than most people! Good Job!
@MsJanetWood exaggerated*, a lot*. Are you sure that you are a native speaker of English? ;-) Work a bit on your spelling and grammar..and LEARN to be humble from watching people like Luca :-) FP
Io ho imparato l'inglese LEGGENDO i libri di Sex and the City e guardando la serie televisiva in inglese x 5-6 volte (senza sottotitoli....e ho voluto imparare l'inglese che si parla a NEW YORK...more fashionable)
I can somewhat tell you're not a native speaker of American English, lol, because I heard em-PHA-sis on the wrong syl-LA-ble on occasion. But you could have easily had me fooled! :D
Amazing! I can't get over how well you speak English. You said in a previous post that you learn languages by massive input. Do you use software programs to learn and if so do you have any that you recommend. I'm currently using Rosetta Stone and I like it but sometimes it's difficult because it teaches you completely by immersion and sometimes I'm not sure if I'm grasping the correct meaning so I check it with an online translator. Which learning methods have worked best for you?
I also pick up accents without realizing. I find it hard to consciously teach my self a accent, if I am around it though and hear it often I pick up the accent quite quickly.
Your accent though is very very good.
I am trying to work on my German accent, ugh...those German "R"s.
I'm an American that lives in New Jersey, whos family is from Palermo, Sicily.. I was blown away by your American English.. My family has been here for 40 years and still have accents! Holy shit bro, you're fuckin' awesome! BATTI LU FERRU MENTRI E CAUDU BRO!! I speak italian and sicilian fluently, but my sicilian is so much better!
Hey Luca! How you doing man? just a question... I still haven't seen all of ur videos to know that, but do you understand all those languages that same easy you can speak them ?
Dear friend, generally yes. My way of learning language generally comes from massive input (which I transform into output through my method). I find listening an essential activity and I generally understand a language well once I've reached a decent level. Obrigado pela pergunta, até a proxima :-) Luca
You know what? My american friend is still waiting for me to go to Philly and the moment I land on american ground the first thing that I want to do is visiting both NY and Philadelphia. Man, I really want to see the US :-) Luca
Dear friend, when I made this video I was well aware that the correct word is pronunciation (my american friend had corrected me numerous times in this regard) and yet I say it wrong here. So thanks so much for pointing it out, I find corrections extremely useful. In russian they always say "на ошибках учатся" (you learn through mistakes) and it's so true! :-) Thanks again and take care. Luca
Oh man, it's so weird to watch your Italian video and then watch this and you're talking with a perfect American accent! I'm taking Italian right now and I couldn't understand much of your Italian video because you were talking so fast (which probably isn't even that fast for you), so it was nice to be able to fully understand you here.
It's funny because even though your accent is pretty good, I could still pick up differences in how we would phrase sentences.
parla perfetto inglese! so parlare piccolo italiano.
man without reading your description, i would have never guessed English wasn't your native language.
have you been to the US? I always wonder if its tought because we speak in so much slang these days, atleast us college students.
I always wanted to see what a "learning english" book is like. We assume when we learn a language we sound like little kids speaking. I wonder what it sounds like listening to class of foreigners learning English
First off, thank you for the nice comment :-) No, I've never been to the US before and my friend from Philly is still waiting for me to come. I'll probably go to NY in 2010, but still don't know exactly when. Take care and thanks again for dropping a line. Luca
@roughrider8182 Check out some ESL (English as a second language) websites and you will see how English is taught to foreigners. There are even a few ESL teachers on youtube. I recommended them to my Spanish friend who is learning English. :-)
@Loyal801 lol No, it doesn't sound like English is his first language. It's because of the accent. His English isn't bad. It's pretty good. I have to give thumbs up for it.
Yeah. Italiano with Midwestern accent? LOL. But really, you are very talented with languages. Your portuguese and French is good also (French is kinda funny; that's OK).
This Americana is impressed. I am however, still laughing at your Midwestern accent. :P
Hey, Luca this is awesome.
Hebrew and Arabic have the same problem as English when it comes to reading and pronouncing right.
And regarding "mastering the language" u r so incredibly right. Only someone who truly learned difficult langauges like Greek and Russian would understand this. It's incredible, but I know people in my University who know a great deal of words in English. But u would never hear them say "let's go out" or "time's up" "let's take off" , they would just say "let's leave" in a heavy Israeli accent:)
You're right about the accent issue, as when you say, "Chicago," you say it with a Chicagoan accent.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know. As somebody that is learning Russian right now, I would love to have a Russian accent. As an American listening to you, I think it would be cool if you had an Italian accent. I think as long as you can communicate, though, that's all that matters.
Lucas Eres Buenisimo.. YOu sure don't have an accent I been living in the USA my whole life and I speak fluent spanish, but i dont even sound the good.. Bravisimo bebe
Do English/American people like Italians attempting at English/American accent like him?Or would they just prefer him speaking American with an Italian accent?
did you notice how his gestures change according to which language he is using? When he speaks american, he moves his arms and hands and even his eyes in the typical ways american and british do. When he speaks german he moves the head in the exact same way germans do. The same for french and spanish typical gestures. He is like the living evidence that languages (more than culture) shape your personality and that you can switch personality and you switch from one language to another
yo hablo ingles y espanol y la verdad hablas el ingles con muy buen acento americano, yo tengo viente anos viveinedo aqui en los estados unidos y asta este dia puesdo hablar con un acento como el tuyo es dificil cuando la lengue natal es un idioma completamente diferente como el espanol. very good lucas your a master of 8 languages something i will never have under my sleave. saludos jorge de texas!

I was surprised to find out that english isn't your native tongue and that you are italian. Your american accent rules! There is a hint of something else in it, but unless you told someone where you are from, no one would know.

Dude, your English is spot-on!
Even your unusual pronunciation of 'pronunciation' doesn't make you sound non-native, as it is sometimes said like that.
The only way you give away the fact that you were not raised as an English-speaker is that you actually spell correctly.
All our parents and grand-parents always spelled correctly, but now it's like it's too old-fashioned.
You do; however; make up for it a bit with your bad capitalization.
Keep up the good work, kid.

Which learning methods have worked best for you?
lauriej2 1 year ago
Your English is great! The only reason I can tell that you are Italian is your constantly-moving hands. Hahah
tusk5and5temper 1 year ago
I notice your accent when you say "video".
I also pick up accents without realizing. I find it hard to consciously teach my self a accent, if I am around it though and hear it often I pick up the accent quite quickly.
Your accent though is very very good.
I am trying to work on my German accent, ugh...those German "R"s.

Hey Luca! How you doing man? just a question... I still haven't seen all of ur videos to know that, but do you understand all those languages that same easy you can speak them ?
DonatelloF 1 year ago
Dear friend, generally yes. My way of learning language generally comes from massive input (which I transform into output through my method). I find listening an essential activity and I generally understand a language well once I've reached a decent level. Obrigado pela pergunta, até a proxima :-) Luca

This might seem pretentious of me or rude or something, but I noticed you say, "Pronounciation".
Many people do say this, yes, but it is more correct as "Pronunciation". :D
h3lblad3 1 year ago
Dear friend, when I made this video I was well aware that the correct word is pronunciation (my american friend had corrected me numerous times in this regard) and yet I say it wrong here. So thanks so much for pointing it out, I find corrections extremely useful. In russian they always say "на ошибках учатся" (you learn through mistakes) and it's so true! :-) Thanks again and take care. Luca

IrishSeve 1 year ago
Oh man, it's so weird to watch your Italian video and then watch this and you're talking with a perfect American accent! I'm taking Italian right now and I couldn't understand much of your Italian video because you were talking so fast (which probably isn't even that fast for you), so it was nice to be able to fully understand you here.
It's funny because even though your accent is pretty good, I could still pick up differences in how we would phrase sentences.

man without reading your description, i would have never guessed English wasn't your native language.
have you been to the US? I always wonder if its tought because we speak in so much slang these days, atleast us college students.
I always wanted to see what a "learning english" book is like. We assume when we learn a language we sound like little kids speaking. I wonder what it sounds like listening to class of foreigners learning English
roughrider8182 1 year ago
First off, thank you for the nice comment :-) No, I've never been to the US before and my friend from Philly is still waiting for me to come. I'll probably go to NY in 2010, but still don't know exactly when. Take care and thanks again for dropping a line. Luca
poliglotta80 1 year ago
@roughrider8182 Check out some ESL (English as a second language) websites and you will see how English is taught to foreigners. There are even a few ESL teachers on youtube. I recommended them to my Spanish friend who is learning English. :-)

Very cool.

did you notice how his gestures change according to which language he is using? When he speaks american, he moves his arms and hands and even his eyes in the typical ways american and british do. When he speaks german he moves the head in the exact same way germans do. The same for french and spanish typical gestures. He is like the living evidence that languages (more than culture) shape your personality and that you can switch personality and you switch from one language to another
