I saw a really elaborate coin heist once at the Trevi. It really ruined the experience of seeing it for the first time. Here were all these families with children enjoying the day and these thugs were stealing all the coins out. It was totally disappointing. I wish I could go back and experience a crime-free Trevi experience, what a beautiful place. I am reminded of the Goonies and Mouth stealing "people's wishes, people's dreams."

Approximately 3000 Euros go into that Fountain Daily. Also there is people who collect the money and donate to people in need. It's a custom, that if a person ever goes to Fontana di Trevi, then that person should toss 2 coins into the fountain - one for the wish, which the fountain will grant that person, and one for that, she or he, would always come back to it (to Fountana di Trevi, I mean.)...FYI, I went there, tossed those two coins, got my wish and now I'm planing to go back - a little thing called The Magic of Italia.....;)...and that bitch is TOTTALY disrespecting it.....
