  • Very moving....my uncle was there during that fire and was credited with helping to save the lives of many men, including the Captain. I believe he was given a medal for his actions that fateful day. Unfortunately he passed away two weeks ago. Rest easy, Uncle Phillip! I miss you.

  • Thanks navydoc66. I was in V-2 Cats, & I can still remember this ceremony, as if it were yesterday. 26 October, 1966. I viewed part of it from the starboard cat walk. I believe this was a Navy Lieutenant.

  • The clip is the burial at sea ceremony for one of the crewmembers lost during the 1966 fire. The music is the Navy Hymn which I felt appropriate for the occasion.
