  • I think its cool that he did that with the bass, it shows that the bass is limitless!!!!

  • you should be ashamed. dude if you think your fooling anyone its going to be the people that don't jam an instrument. but for all us true musicians we aint buyin this shit. go back to your regular job asshole and stop wasting your life on fake you tube videos!

  • Nice Bass. Impressive . Probably made the track himself too. My compliments.

  • I made it about 2:00 in when I knew that it might not get onto the ACTUAL bass.

  • LOL "Dedicated to God".

    What a fag.

  • quite a packed song, wish you the best

  • I don't usually like this guy, he relies too much on technique (some of which he doesn't even master perfectly). But this time...only melody, only feeling. Great song. I can't see why people should criticize him for putting a distortion or using an high range. I then could say the same for, say, 7-string guitar players. So...shut up, close your eyes and listen.

  • @Got3n I like how people are always comparing "technicality" and "expression/feeling" when it comes to how people solo. What people who don't play music don't understand is that technique is used no matter WHAT you play, and the "feeling" type soloing is mostly a musician feeling out the song along the songs scale and key, which is VERY standard and not at all SIMPLY some emotional force emanating from the musician. I think if you don't know music, stfu about terminology

  • @mso872 "I like how people...", "What people who don't play music..." ,"I think if you don't know music..." and others are the reasons why I regret not having enough vocabulary to do effective sarcasm in your language. What I surely can tell you is I'd love to see you playing bass and/or having a discussion regarding music (gregorian, jazz, prog metal...just choose) with me. Until then..."Don't feed the troll".

  • que massa!!

    muito bom mesmo

  • of course it's dedicated the non-existant Judeo Christian god. That's why this video sucks.

    Real men worship Zeus.

  • Guitar? hauahuhaa!

  • freedom of expression in music should be granted and appreciated, so, to all bass purists: fuck off and go back into your little bedrooms jerking off to the same old bass stuff! looser haters.

  • vulgar and banal mess of different pieces of music, boring and pathetic, under this kind of music you can skip the final credits of gay porn movie. that a oar on which all this is played - it is not clear, it is something strange)

  • play properly next time dickhead

  • btw you can hear behind this guitar sound a real bass HAHAHAHAH

Which is not played by this guy xD

  • got any beef, jerky?

  • Bass is awesome! That's what's cool about even extended range basses is that you can fuse into higher ranges like a guitar.

  • dude you could of saved a few hundred bucks if you wouldof bought a normal guitar.. with two strings. thats all you use anyway.

  • what a crap!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice playin guitar. And nice bass you have there. Not that you play one.

  • Wheres the bass?

  • Johnny Holmes of guitars!

  • dude just play guitar

  • why not just buy a guitar and stick some fat strings on it? Same effect

  • And for anyone who says, haters goan hate, any bassist worth his salt can play guitar as well. There's no reason to play this cool jazz douchebaggery and try to pass it off as a bass solo.

  • @PootStip dude, im not hating, i like this solo, but there is a lot of haters on this video

  • Annnd that's how you play a bad guitar solo on a bass. Thanks.

  • when i see this video i think : haters gonna hate XD, its a really cool solo

  • truta qual o sentido de tocar um baixo se vc vai tocar igualzinho a uma guitarra? pega uma guitarra logo

  • Do you use any effect for this sound? It's really really cool ;)

  • get an electric guitar dude...

  • isnt it basically a guitar people bu twith a deeper tone c'mon people u gotta admit this is cool how this guy made this sound like an actual electric guitar

  • Incredible Man!!! Although, I think using a combination of both upper and lower registers would be even sweeter. Simply an observation

  • Incredible Man!!!

  • Cool guitar solo !!! Now the bass...

  • Challenege Accepted.

  • pretty good man!

  • I'm sure "God" appreciated the opening dedication .... (-; ..... Lucky God...

  • why does everyone freak out when a bass player plays in his upper register? When you solo on a guitar, where do you solo? Generally in the upper register. Where do you do solo on a cello? Generally in the upper register. The point is to solo in a range to be HEARD as a soloist. This usually means playing in a higher range. As a string bass player, most of my classical bass solos are in a cello's normal range. It's just more exiting and easier to hear and articulate with a different tone color.

  • im sorry, what part of Electric BASS GUITAR, you don't understand? i think this is beautiful :)

  • i would like to know if you can play the other four strings?

better use an electric guitar and could play all the six strings

  • je savais pas que l'on pouvait faire tout ça rien qu'avec une guitare

  • oh sei propio brutto

  • por favor kara posta uma video-aula sua nos ensinando como vc fais esse som,por favor

  • WTF? Play the bass part.

  • play bass the way it is suppose to be played. if u wanna do leads lik tht play guitar

  • @phillipDAVIDwhitby Troll please leave.

  • Respect to this dude. He's a Christian and plays bass well.

  • @Youtubican eww christian

  • Realjalf learn how to type you moron

  • Put down that lovely instrument, you play it in a way that makes me cry... go buy a nice little Westfield guitar or something!

  • GET A FUCKING GUITAR ASSHOLE!

  • Like Laserium, in a midwestern mall... commercial TranSiberian arena-rock, but A+ for effort!!

  • oh c'mon!!! you're playing the greatest instrument ever and u play it as a guitar?!??! hope this is a joke

  • @slapitcrazy He is playing music and having fun.its something the purists of this world will never understand. But thats why purists are never trend setters...they are followers. In music things are not where they supposed to be....but where you want them to be.

  • @Dreamdancer11 it's not about that, I love tryin' new things on my bass guitar, create techniques, but the effects he uses made his bass turn in a guitar that's why I didn't appreciate this, but nobody gives a fuck of what i think, so i'll just go play :)

  • I disliked cause it's dedicated to God. Oh, and because she have a long hair.

  • I disliked cause it's dedicated to God.

  • @RealJalf

you are of god so it is also dedicated to you.

  • Great tune!

  • Inconcievable!!!

  • It's very beautiful!

  • so ... why not just play guitar?

i dont cuz its too complimacated for me and my fingers are too clumsy :p

i'm not being funny btw, thats actually true in my case ... plus i dont like the tuning on the 2 high strings ... it always messes me up, but thats just me

but its like youre not even playing the bass for the bass sound. my guess is that you have the same difficulty with the guitar?

  • @heavyrain wAtever dude that's the purpose not have a wannabe guitar player then there is no reason

  • Jesus?

  • its crazy but cool dude

    i like it

  • buy a guitar

  • Why didnt he just learn guitar?

  • I like that guitar?

  • @TheNozez its a bass but he might as well pick up a damn guitar

  • I thought i was gonna dee a bassist... not another guitarist

  • 126 people disliked this video

  • blz!!falto so uns bens e umas alavancadas!!!kkkk

  • Everyone knows the Bassist of the band has the largest genitalia.

  • @mymomiscool111

dude, made my day, quoting you in a facebook status. lol

  • @mymomiscool111 thats why im a bassist i have a huuuuge penis

  • @chozenmatt no your wrong the purpose of bass not to lead the band(drummer) the bass only makes the sound fuller I have a friend who has played bass forever and he was the one who told me that

  • @dimebagdarrellftw if you're a pussy and a coward

  • Bass is like the glue for music, it helps bring all the music together!

  • good song //////////// but this is just guitar wannabe

  • 低音弦が何であるの?

  • I stuck my finger up my worm filled asshole and broke some hemoroids just to drip blood and worms on my girlfriends droopy uneven titties!!!

  • realy boring

  • bro ignore the comments that say this sucks. god gave u a talent bro, your pretty great. chase that, dont let other people tell you its not good enough. because chances are, they arent that great themselves. your great bro, keep up the good work

  • bass doesn't necessarily have to be a back rhythm instrument - the like of bruce, entwistle, sheehan and wooten have proven that - but this is not innovative bass playing. he may as well use a guitar.

  • oh no this guy needs 2 strings not 5

  • how can something so shit get so many views ??????

  • Words can't express how much this sucks ass. And not just regular ass, but bedsore inflicted super hairy (like Robin William's chest hairy, but in a butt-crack) draining with pus and week old bits of corn and wadded up moldy toilet paper ass.

  • @UrDeadGrannysCorpse It sucks a hairy unwiped pinworm infested asshole that is spread open with cum dripping out of it onto my limp and bloody cock!

  • this sounds wayyy better than any guitar on any distortion XD

  • You say this video speaks of bass being a solo instrument? Please compare this to any guitar instrumental and this would fall off quite quickly. If you really want, any instrument can be lead, but different instruments are used in different ways according to their sound, their timbre. Bass is MEANT for the background, as 500 years it was used, it still remains that way today.

  • @hensleyohensley although, theres no music police that chases you and forbid you to play bass lead.... ask the bassist from TOOL

  • @hensleyohensley idiot. listen to wooten, claypool, pistorias etc and tell us bass is meant to be in the background. the main reason you dont hear a lot of "lead bass" is because its a much harder instrument to master than guitar. ive been playing bass for 18 years and i do not consider myself by any means fully accomplished. this vid is not a good example of good lead bass though.

  • @wesp82 Listen to music for the last 2000 years. Bass's role is Bass. hence the name Bass. Bass is not meant for Lead purposes period... It's as simple as that. It's not harder to master you must be retarded... The only few people who've actually mastered the guitar have been playing for 40 years plus... Bass Lead is a rebel activity and that's like taking Beat and putting it above rhythm. Learn your instruments place.

  • please tell me this video is from 1986

  • man come on.

i love it when a bassist has awsome skills and is able to play really cool/difficult things, but this guy is shit.

if he wants to play bass, than he should play bass, with bass sound, not a guitar like sound. if he wants to sound like a guitar he should play one.

Guys like Sheehan and Pastorius know how to do real basssolos

  • Yey for 6 string basses!

I'm gonna buy one soon :)...

  • veramente brutto...ma brutto davvero eh!!

  • AWESOME BROTHER!

  • i didn't like that very much at all

  • @mancannon66 WTF!

  • @mancannon66 you can suck my balls i bet you will like that

  • @mancannon66

Me neither... Why would anyone mess with the sound of the Bass that much? It rocks anyways.... Maybe if the normal bass sound was there instead of the one that is in the vid, it would be better i think..

  • 80s guitar cheese..... still tired of it

  • Yes, this guy should really go buy a guitar, but it's you guys defending him that really makes me laugh...

If you really don't know what you are talking about, please just shut up.

Go ask musicians, the real ones, not teen wannabies.

  • All the synthesised bullcrap makes the bass hard to hear =(

  • The great Jaco Pastorius said once that it's very important for a bassplayer to know what's going on with the melodies, and to learn how to harmonise the bass melodies to it. Seems to me that he should know! So I play a lot of melodies myself too.

  • Man,that thing must be heavy o.o'. I don't wanna imagine myself on a concert with that monster in my hands..naaw' xD

  • the best roadie i've ever seen

  • mabe he couldnt find his guitar. this is pretty awesome though.

  • Need more knobs.

  • BORING! REMINDS ME OF FOOD SHOPPING IN MY LOCAL CO OP!

  • I don't know if he's good or not, but the identity of the bass is lost here... but great tune!

  • why u don't play a fucking guitar???????????? that's not fot bassist!!!!!!!!! and if u do u are a frustrated guitarrist!!!

  • @3manue1 you jealous of him, bro?

  • @3manue1 whats more important? that the dude's playing some real music with his bass or the fact that he's not playing what u think a bassist should be allowed to play?

  • I have no problem with how he's playing, and I don't particularly care if he's playing "too much like a guitarist," but everything about this song is so freakin cheesy.

  • this isnt bass. hes basically just fingerpicking on a guitar with fat strings.

  • @ryankuisti it is a 6 string bass that he is playing

  • wtf man, I have never seen a bass do those noises xD

    nice job btw ;)

  • @Israfel93 Just some FX :)

  • ooo! Sitar Hero!!!!

  • It`s an overkill to Tangerine Dream piece ... it`s not only about playing using some technique, it`s about technique fitting the purpose .. it would have been a nice fit.

  • damn. truly magical my dude

  • nice solo , what effect are u using?

  • rofl i love how he plays this highly melodic and beautiful solo, but right after that it tells you to go to the burning in hell website.

  • cade seu strap? ficou 5 minutos e 40 segundos com a perna levantada deve ser muito desconfortavel

  • never knew bass could make that high notes

  • i'd like to see a guitarist do this on his bass.

  • 97 dislike this video cause they got out solo'd by a bassist :D

  • nice work, but the 80s cheap music is a major flaccid inducer.

  • nice solo, I hate how it has that guitar sound though, if it had that fretless/regular bass sound to it it would get an emmy :)

  • 97 dislike this video because are guitarrist

  • how many strings this bass has???

  • @chrisgreece52 six, just look at the tuning pegs.

  • @1xDRCx yeah ur right but i think that a 4 string bass is enough for a band!!!!!!!

  • @chrisgreece52 You're right, 4 strings is the standard and is entirely useful in every application. Having more strings does give you more options and in many ways can make aspects of playing easier. But it's just a choice and personal preference :)

  • @stonedparyah ur right but a six string bass gives u choises and while ur playing u wont do anything wrong cuz u can play with a different way (sr 4 my english)

  • @chrisgreece52 I totally agree, I'm a 6-string player myself! I find it allows me to play a lot of passages more easily because I don't have to move up and down the neck, and playing in a metal band, the lower string is really useful to me :)

  • @1xDRCx lol i should hv watched the tunning pegs before i comment this vid!!!!!!

  • why does very guitarist ever look like the same hippie?

  • This is not a bassist, It's a guitarist with big hands and switching scale makes it easier to play.

  • if i didnt c the vid i would think tht this a guitar lol

  • That pinch harmonic on the bass...I have never heard a pinch harmonic on the bass like that...Never ever. Amazing.

  • god had nothing to do with this bass playing

  • Great bass player =) !! Can someone tell me what kind of effect he's using, please?

  • very nice song ! keep up the good work !

  • people often completely misunderstand, and think that the bass is just an easy way out for the inferior guitarist. while the bass has, admittedly, some easier songs to start out with, i personally, as a player of both, find the bass much harder to master.

  • @lusteraliaszero sorry, but that's because you're probably a bass-biased person. If you think bass is harder to master than guitar, please give details on how. The guitar is the most virtuosic instrument I can think of. (that sounds good and is versatile at the same time). Bass is not meant to be a virtuosic instrument. It's a underlying instrument that works below the song level. It's main purpose is for tempo and rhythmic purpose.

  • @hensleyohensley Ofcourse I'm a bit biased. You clearly are too, and have not conjured a single argument.

    okay here goes.

Bass and guitar are extremely similar in how the are played, all techniques can be applied to both, I've even seen people play flamenco on bass. If we're completely theoretical, the only one difference is that basses have heavier strings, really.

but on a practical level, a bass solist has to work more with consonance on high levels. A guitarist can easily fall back on simple

  • @hensleyohensley cords. but the difference is quite small. A bass will in most cases require better sense of rythm.

  • @lusteraliaszero Correction #1, Doublebass, in orchestrated music was far from any type of "lead" purpose. I study orchestral music in college, the only use of doublebass was for the underlying accents of songs, there was no lead, and very very little use of it other than the beat/rhythm etc. Bass wasn't very smooth and hearing a bass solo over a orchestra would prove quite difficult and ineffective. Correction #2, as is obvious, Guitar is a Lead instrument...

  • @lusteraliaszero It's meant to be "on top" of the music, as was the woodwind and string instruments of orchestral music. Bass solo'ing is sort of like Drum solo'ing. You can do it, but it's not recommended, because the instruments purpose is not to provoke a "Feeling" out of the music rather than to provoke a beat and rhythm as drums do.

  • @hensleyohensley Oh shit, you study orchestral music in college? you must be amazing, I wish I could quit the conservatory and come study music on those levels, man, you're really an inspiration.

While a kind of half assed path you've taken, it should give you a bit of a musical understanding, atleast enough to realise that the role and function of a bass and drum is rather different.

It should make it even more clear, that music evolves, and the bass does not necessarily

  • @hensleyohensley have the same role today as fifty years ago.

it has all the necessary traits to be a solo instrument, I think this video is a rather good example.

And just so you know, the doublebass WOULD take the lead from time to time.

I don't really get correction number 2.. yeah, it is, have I claimed otherwise? however, it can also take the place as a rythm instrument. By the way, I haven't seen any arguments as to why the guitar would be a more 'virtuosic' instrument than the bass.

  • @lusteraliaszero And hmm how to describe the guitar being harder. Idk I guess you'd have to play it to understand. We can go from the extreme bending degrees of true blues all the way to the 8 finger tapped arpeggios. Surely bass has relativley the same techniqes as guitar, but to what degree? You can see the difference between skills watching people like Paul gilbert in scarified, sure the bass player mimics the guitar somewhat, but he does not do the harder patterns that gilbert does

  • @hensleyohensley these can be be applied to bass too, even arpeggios, you can't use it as an argument that SOMEONE doesn't.
