Not speaking about the song itself, but the video: I think it's about someone struggling with faith and doubt. They're trying to be faithful, but somehow they have realized (light bulb) that their religion is false, and every time they try to suppress that doubt (the bulb goes out) they have a religious experience, but doubt keeps them falling back. The black figures represent the shame and guilt from a god they don't know whether or not to believe in, but know, deep down, that he doesn't exist.
Also no idea where this whole religious stuff came from and it really does nothing for helping this awesome music video. My idea of religion? I'd rather burn in hell then believe in God. So cya there my fellow badass sinners but for now I'm gonna enjoy this awesome song

I am having a great degree of difficulty trying to connect the lyrics to the animation. Clearly, the lyrics are about his kid being murdered by a Jesus lover. Look Buffy and Charmed (which had demons-a religious being-), and Stargate SG-1 (which used mythology for the goa'uld) and many more series. The Exocist movies and Constantine dealt with angels, demons. Religion is also an inspirational thing for creativity such as this music. Even if you're not christian it still has a good musical beat and rythm to it.

They know premarital sex happens and they accept it. You have no idea what you're talking about. Catholic's are against sex before marriage, you're correct about that. But as for sex being the "biggest sin", no I don't think so. I was raised Catholic, sex before marriage is frowned upon, but they're just like any xian faith. It doesn't make much difference, people still do it, they just make everyone feel super guilty about it.

I am having a great degree of difficulty trying to connect the lyrics to the animation. Clearly, the lyrics are about his kid being murdered by a Jesus lover. This animation, on the other hand, I have no idea what it was about. I have to be honest, I didn't really like it but I love the song. I'd rather just watch him sing it, in my opinion.

What kind of shit is that Kozzy06? If not for religion, there wouldn't be alot of tv series of movies! Look Buffy and Charmed (which had demons-a religious being-), and Stargate SG-1 (which used mythology for the goa'uld) and many more series. The Exocist movies and Constantine dealt with angels, demons. Religion is also an inspirational thing for creativity such as this music. Even if you're not christian it still has a good musical beat and rythm to it.
