Old outdoor roots also end on the chains, and so does this indoor root. Do you really think the commentators would say something like "He's done it" when he did something illegal?
It didnt matter if grabbing the chains was legal or not, he had already won the competition, he was the last competitor. Just finished reading his autobiography, what a guy!

You were supposed to grab the chain at the top in those days - there isn't a finishing hold near it.
