I was at this game when he made this interception, it happened right in front of where i was sitting. I see it today and it still amazes me he made that interception then ran it back for a TD.
As a Giants fan, this was one of the best interceptions ever by a NY Giant. J. Sehorn was one of the best in the league! He will always be a NY Giant! And the Fans will always remember what a presence he was!
he wasn't necessarily the best COVER corner, but he had the deion sanders speed to bait quarterbacks and catch up to the receiver, andcould run and jump with anybody. athleticism, tackling, and the ability to come through in the clutch were his forte, with the exception of the super bowl where he fell down like 15 times
That was ridiculous, black or white, I don't care. That is awesome hand-eye coordination and balance right there. Then he had the speed to take it to the house...SICK!
i was at this game...missed both giant tds. i was on the escalator when dixon ran back the kickoff and i was on line getting beer when this gem took place.
Can you imagine if there was Affirmative Action for White Cornerbacks.. I don't think any football fan would support that .. especially if that guy was on your team.. They just don't have the speed a size to keep up with the WR brothers..
@klabkebash Sehorn did before his injury in '98 as stated before he was being hailed as the Rod Woodson of the 90's and at 6-2 215 with 4.37 40 speed he had the necessary skill set to back up the claim.
@klabkebash Don't give up hope maybe someone will continue the trend later on down the line.I remember when he was getting exposure from the media courtesy of ESPN because he was a white guy playing a position that demanded catch up speed and other teams tested him early in his career and he lived up to the hype.I remember what Shannon Sharpe said about Sehorn "If he were black this discussion of his racial background wouldn't be talked about at all"
@klabkebash As stated before I would have liked to see Sehorn play WR if the Giants went that route with him in his prime imagine him against the Deion's,Darrell's,Rod Woodson's in the NFL?
@klabkebash Hey "Bash" check this out you said as far as your concerned that white db's are decased well say hello to the future "Jason Sehorn" in the form of high schooler Nick Stoner from Greenwood,Ind. he plays for Center Grove HS he scored on a 96 yd kickoff return and a 25 yd fumble return in a 34-24 win against Lawrenceville North HS he led his league in picks(7) and he has a track background finished second in the state championship in the 100m (10.82)HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL SIR
@klabkebash Hey "Bash" that info on Stoner you can thank Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd" its in the newest edition about Sports Agents paying off college athletes.LOWLIFES CAN STAND THEM
@Raiderzz99 I guess you haven't been watching football for long. John Lynch, a 9 time Pro Bowler, was one of the biggest hitting safeties in NFL history, and was a key factor in the Buccaneers' amazing Super Bowl champion defense. He retired roughly 2 years ago.
@shadymages Yes but Lynch didn't have the necessary skill set to play cornerback like Sehorn did in his prime.Safety was the original position Sehorn played as a collegian but the NY Giants coaching staff saw that Sehorn at 6-2 215 4.37(40) had the necessary skills that would allow him to play cornerback.
I know Sehorn was a great DB initially, but I always think negatively about him because he cost the team a ton on the cap to be one of the worst CBs in the league for years. He played horrible in the one Super Bowl game he was in and was a big reason the Giants blew the largest lead in playoff history to the Niners.
@FTArmy Yes after he lost his recovery speed he started looking for help from the free safety look at his reaction after he got burned by WR Brandon Stokley he looked at his teammate asking where's the help. That's when I knew he was done as a shut down corner.
@1Giants2Saints3Hi not sure about the score but i believe this was the 2000 nfc divisional game (january 2001) the same year the giants lost to the ravens in super bowl 35
@PlatinumGrasshopper He made the decision to get on the kickoff return team and do whatever he could to help the squad win unfortunately it cost him longevity in the NFL.
I saw this live as my family have had Giants seasons since 76, I was in the 3rd tier corner and Jason came right towards us. Ecstatic is an understatement for how we felt.
@chris371 His color had nothing to do with his ability he was being called the Rod Woodson of the 90's and he at 6-2 215 with 4.37 had size and speed to back it up.Unfortunately because of a torn ACL in a pre-season game vs NY Jets(98) we will never know if he could have lived up to the hype placed on him by the media.
@abret69 So I guess back when there were no black QBs it was because there were just none good enough, right? Maybe you should open your mind a bit and wonder why the league looks like it does, rather than just repeating what the TV tells you every day.
@murat8080 First! You are the first White person to be ignorant enough to compare the plight of the White db with that of the Black qb. I knew you would come, I just expected you to come sooner. Lol. So you think White GM's/coaches/owners are discriminating against White db's? Sigh. Please can an educated/non ignorant white person straighten this guy out? I guess you should tell me what White db's have been lighting it up in college that got black balled by the NFL...get it...black balled?
No. One of the best white cornerbacks was Pat Fischer of the Redskins. He was one of the best of his time. He played in the 1960s and into the early 70s. Look him up.

Anyway, as he played in real games, it became very apparent that he could not cover anyone. He was a bust. Indeed, Sehorn is peerless.
