  • These people at expertvillage are so ingnorant. They havent got a clue of what they are talking about. Feed the frogs fish or bloodworms.

  • i put 2 frogs and 3 snails in a 10 gallon tank

  • i have these little guys...again research most die from not getting enough food because of fish...i give mine frog and tadpole bites(formula for them) and blood worms...i have had them 8 years two in a tank with an octo.. and if you feed them enough they wont try to eat the octo....i have been able to have a mating pair and raised tadpoles. keep the tank clean they absorb everything...pet stores sell two in a small plastic tank with a bamboo shoot for kids..dont support this. research pet care

  • @77artgirl nice the usua; lifespan is 5 yrs

  • ok right off hand you make me thing you no nothing abought them cus the bigger the tank the bigger thay get. i have seed them get as big as a bullfrog and i have 2 right now that are over 3 inches.

  • I feed my ADF the same stuff i feed my fish & its been a year now he is healthy and doing just fine

  • @BrunoOnTheTube ive had them for around 3 years, ive done everything he has said and nothing more.

  • African Dwarf Frogs DON'T EAT TURTLE PELLETS OR FISH FLAKES! They will STARVE if you feed them that. They need bloodworms or fish&tadpole bites, and if you want you can occasionally feed them brine shrimp or mysis shrimp.

  • mine eats turtle pellets, bloodworms, and algae wafers

  • they eat freeze dry food were did that guy hear flakes?

  • two questions

1: i use to have two newts, but there dead, and when i had them i bought a floating dock. do you think its okay if i put it with my african dwarf frog? ( he lives alone)

2: up till when do they live, mine is already 6 years old.

please wright back and thanks for the info

    bye.

  • They do not eat flakes. They grow up to 1.5 - 2 inches. They need special care. You are stupid.

  • @Blinx56 - No. The correct full common name for this frog is 'Dwarf African Clawed Frog' to distinguish it from its much larger cousin the African Clawed Frog.

It really does have tiny black claws on its hind legs...

Dwarf African Clawed Frog - Hymenochirus boettgeri

African Clawed Frog - Xenopus laevis

  • Flake food is bad for the tank as most of the flake food will break up and pollute the water.

Feed these frogs tiny bits of raw fish flesh like Tilapia, salmon or earthworm, etc. Bloodworm is very low in nutrients and some people react very badly to it if they touch it. So rotate with processed food like TetraPrima pellets, but stay away from wheat based pellets as these swell up internally and can kill.

An adult frog (>1y) needs only feeding 3 times a week. Young need feeding daily.

  • is a 20 gallon tank too big for these. id love to add 2 to my 20 gallon tank.

  • @wolverine1865 you could put like 15 in a 20 gallon tank

  • Umm... I think you should have done more research on ADF's before you made a video.

  • i need to get frogs for my apartment

  • I bought some from hallmark and they gave me special food for them. They told me to only feed them twice a week and to clean their take every three months.

  • @grizzly8889 really? i was told to feed mine every other day and to clean my tank like usual ( i clean it every saturday) and to feed them blood worms. but i guess thats because i have fish in my tank too

  • @grizzly8889 - Sadly they are not animal experts and are giving out wrong advice.

See web site - 'The Aquarium Wiki Encyclopaedia' and type in DAF for a full care profile.

  • the worst pets ever....

  • I have 2 of them :D

  • dwarf african clawed frogs...

  • WHAT?!?!?! ADF's do NOT eat turtle flakes, they eat BLOODWORMS. They do NOT eat toher fish.

  • @sarahhaspowers - Actually they will if that is the only food provided and they're hungry enough. But it's not the right type! Far too much added calcium in Turtle food for frogs...

They like eating meat, so tiny worms, like White-worm or bits of raw fish flesh. Bloodworm has hardly any food value and is not a complete diet if the frog is fed just this. TetraPrima pellets is wolfed down as it is mainly meat based.

  • What's a dwarf African clawed frog? lol

  • i have one piec of drift wood with 1 plant is that enough?

  • Again, Dwarf frogs and Clawed frogs are DIFFERENT species of frogs. Clawed frogs grow to be 5 inches and are very aggressive and freeze dried while in general wont cause problems but greatly increase the chances of causing bloat in frogs. Frozen blood worms are safer and easier to digest for the little guys.

  • @smileygriller Yeah, mine like TINY peices of cut-up veggies, but I also feed her freeze-dried bloodworms. =o] She likes tiny bits of cooked hamburger, too, as a treat, but they need bloodworms for a full meal.

  • @RogueSlayer Dwarf frogs are sometimes called Dwarf African Clawed Frogs. =o] But you're right. They can't live on the flakes. They won't be very healthy. I feed mine freeze-dried bloodworms.

  • @RogueSlayer yea. thats what i read on the internet 2.

  • Recommended foods for african dwarf frogs: HBH frog bites, frozen brine shrimp, tilapia or reptomin

  • all 3 of mine lived fine on fish food and they lived 4 years

  • @geckokid94 my frog is still alive and is 7 years old

  • @kenny123663 ive never tried frozen blood worms ill try thank you.

  • haha guys you can say im dumb, but about 4 days after i put it on a bloodworm diet it died. oh noooes =O

my friend got a frog from same place at same time. she feeds hers people food and hers is alive.

  • @smileygriller ya your pretty dumb

  • how big of a tank should i get if i have only two african dwarf frogs

  • a 10 gallon will do good for about 4 so a 5 gallon minimum

  • @MrBettaBreeder try like a 1.5 gallon. thats what 1 frog needs

  • @avoidthegreat your right about the 1.5 but you also need about .5 every frog also so

1 = 1.5 -------- 2 =3.5-------3= 5.5 and if you have fish then it aplies the same way with fish but certain fish need different amounts of space I hav 10 fish with 2 frogs a clawed and a green for about 1 in and 1.5 i dont know how they get along.

  • YOU SHOUD AT THE LEAST GET 30 GALON

  • @USApunk07 I'd go for 4 gallons with 2 frogs. I have one, and my tank is 1.5 gallons. They are very energetic, so they need some room. I'm considering a larger tank for mine.

  • no no no no no no.!!! dont feed it human food. no meat or veg, only bloodworms, tubixworms ect. there arent for new aquarium hobbyests, you need experience with aquatic pets.

  • They sell those at Hallmark.

  • My brothers african dwarf frog just died Dx R.I.P hah he was cutee :)

  • i feed my froggies shrimp pellets

  • Mini - frogs...?? 1 inch...why bother ..it resticts what you can put in your tank too much...just my experience...2 tanks are good 1 for small things..1 for BIG things

  • He should learn how to speak!

"Most fish will be to big to eat the frogs!"

    WTF NOOB?

  • he says "*IF* the fish fish are too big they will eat the frog."

  • are these the same as the frog o;sphere ones lol

  • my fiddler crabs almost ate my frog just like a cricket, this dude is right

  • @EasternCalifornia Yea, gotta be careful with Fiddlers. They eat anything!

  • I just got one today!

  • tell me some info bout it

  • I feed my frog minibloodworms and in one vid it said to feed it bloodworms 2 times a week but i feed it bloodworms everyday so im wandering how many times should i feed a day or a week

  • @SgtReviewer I'd do every-other day. =o] Just a pinh. They don't eat a whole lot. They're little.

  • i have 2 african dwarf frigs 1 is a boy and 1 is a girl i love looking at them.

  • 1. This is a African dwarf frog, not a clawed frog. NO adult fish will be big enough for him to eat.

    2. They do not eat turtle pellets.

    3. If your flakes reach the bottom before being consumed, you are overfeeding. If your frog is lucky enough to stumble upon a flake, he will most likely ignore it.

  • 1. true

    2. true

    3. false, mines loves the tropical fish flakes, he swims up to surface to get em

  • They love bloodworms though.

  • @PSNjizzcake ur a fing loser if u dont think a oscar datinoid or a pacu can eat a 1inch frog my oscar eats 3in fish along with lizards mice nightcrawlers an even toads

  • @rudbucket Retard I said no adult fish will be big enough for the FROG to eat. They guy was saying that an adult dwarf frog might eat a fish. Yes I would hope an Oscar is capable of eating a 1 inch frog

  • @PSNjizzcake - In my Yahoo group on DAFs we have had incidents where a DAF has tried to swallow a dwarf Oto head first and both animals die as the Oto has tiny barbs around its head so the frog can't shake the fish loose.

DAFs can't see much of anything under water and hunt by smell and vibration.

  • @PSNjizzcake wrong they do eat those pellets thats reptomin i feed it to mine and they eat them happly

  • dont use reall plants as they are usually uprooted or eaten!

  • I have two african dwarfs. one boy one girl. sooooo cute!

  • look at his freakin side ways mouth hahahahahaha

    retard

  • boooooooring!

  • can they live in 2o degres

  • YOU SHOULD NOT POST A VIDEO ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AND YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW SH!T!! THIS VIDEO IS ALMOST ALL BOGUST INFO ABOUT AFRICAN DWARF FROGS AT THE VERY LEAST MISLEADING AND INADEQUATE. SEARCH YAHOO FOR adf GROUPS TO GET THE CORRECT INFO

  • Can you get these in australia? i want one real bad

  • @wanka74 You probably can. I'm in the U.S., and I don't know if you have Petcos there, but try looking there. =o]

  • firstly these frogs are completley aquatic , meaning they dont\ leave the water. however they do have lungs ,they do need to breathe air ,so surface to do so , but never leave the water as they would dry out and die.

  • i feed mine live black worms, works well!!!

  • dont feed em flake food though, because the only reason they come to the top is not to look for food, but to geet air. They DONT have gills

  • they can breathe under water

  • i dont think they can, im pretty sure they only have lungs like other frogs

  • they are aquatic frogs

  • they still come up for air if you watch them though

  • mine died =[ i dont know why

  • im sorry. i had one once and it also died much too soon

  • mine was twitching..but...it looked dead =[

  • lol ,u killed it thats why

  • i feed it good

  • could have been a fungus.

  • can a Dalmatian molly live with a Dwarf frog

  • ya just dont put with cichleds and aggressive fish

  • they need to be fed BLOOD WORMS. And they cannot survive on fish flakes for long.

  • @imabadspeler they can eat pellets, more nutritious than blood worms, same goes for bettas too, people tend to give them soley blood worms, and that is enough to sustain them but wont give them all the nutrients they would get from a forumlated pellet diet.

  • @imabadspeler true my african dawrf frog died but right blood worm are very good for them

  • @imabadspeler can they be freeze dried

  • @imabadspeler

actually you're wrong, i feed both my african dwarfs with flakes, it's been almost 2 months, it's still alive and moving fine.

  • @kermit1someone Woah. A WHOLE TWO MONTHS. Malnutrition takes a while to die from.

  • @kermit1someone Frogs are amphibians it takes a long time for them to starve. And they will starve on flake food. You can feed them fish that you have at home. Just chop the fish up in small pieces and the frogs will eat it. That's much better food for them.

  • he didn't seem very sure of what he was saying did he

  • lie you dont feed them turtle pellets the turtle pellets are a supplementary diet for their cuzin the A.C.F which is the much lrgr 1 and frogs donteat fishfood well mine does sometimes but only as a rare treat! fish food may be unhealthy for them you feed them blood worms blckworm, frogbitesinkingpellets, chopped earthworms! most foods is bettered to have it freezed youknow the one you put in the tank and melts and the frogs eat em? those also tubifex worms and whomever made this is a total retard

  • why u tellin me this?

  • ehh it wasnt to you xD i hit the wrong button and i was too tired so i decided to be lazy

  • blood worms!!!

  • yes they are

  • not much info at all! Glad I found out some specifics in order to take care of mine. he also said "clawed" - those are not clawed frogs.

  • correct those are the african dwarves

  • is that the most simple frog to take care?

  • yes

  • yes but its not as simple as you might think! you need heater (well enough for a 10 gallon) they need a ten gallon fish tank and you can only put up to atleast max of frogs:6 frogs and you need alot of plants for them for hidding you also should provide something kind of tall ornament so if their tired and dont wanna struggle for air they can stay there and rest
