@Dharkhaze17 If you sat in a hotspot for about 2 weeks, yes you may have some problems, but just going in for a couple hours and being careful, no your fine...
@Dharkhaze17 Certain parts of Pripyat have hardly any radiation left at all. Most do have a fair amount, but the city as a whole does not have an amount that would kill off human life instantly.
@SUPERFREEZER98 They were running a safety test in which they had to shut down one of the reactors. It was meant to be done by the senior team of scientists but they were working during the day and they wanted to do it at night so as to cause minimum disruption to the power supply. However it was the junior team of scientists on the night shift that night and they fucked up. The members of the junior team got off the charges, but the senior team got something like 10 years in prison each.

@Markthebagman If you are in the UK, Thomas Cook are starting trips to the area in august 2012, providing they get enough interest. Also several smaller operators are already flying punters from the uk to kiev, then there is road transfer to the area... The best one is a company called ' radiaton vacations ' who are based in Barnsley. not sure if they have a website though.

good video.Thank you. I'm living now in Natori-city,Miyagi-Pref,Japan. My house is distant only 90km from Fukushima nuclear plant. Outside of my house:0.09μSv/h
(γ-ray).Grounds:0.16. My kids-Schoolyard:0.23. Is this safe???
@guardianofmiyagi i would say that more than 10-20μSv/h would start to get dangerous over a long period of time (a few years), so your readings are pretty much safe
@mattrules8900 Bloc on Modern Warfare? Yes. Bloc on Modern Warfare, according to Call of Duty Wikia and the ferris wheel on the map is Pripyat. Infinity Ward did a god damn great job.

@jason854656 it will, but very very slowly. For instance: the radioactive iodine has a half life(half life means that after that time, the amount of, for example iodine, is half of what it was) of 8 days. But radioactive ceasium has a half life of about 30 years. Anyway: it wont be safe to drink water out of the rivers there for a looong time:(
there was no school on saturday i think they said it in a german doku
greetings from austria
i can help you with german translation if you like austria is a neighbour town from germani and we speak the same language with a little different in austria but grammar is the same
Some people probably think that if there's trees with leafs and fruits so it's not so bad when nuclear power plant explodes. :/ well that was like hundred times smaller reactor than some today and it still would leak radiation everywhere on Earth if it would start to leak again. Btw at 4:20 the radiation actually comes through the wind shield without any problem so some of it still comes though concrete walls in the plant.
It's a machine translation. If you can help with a better translation I'd really appreciate it. I'll send you the origianal document if it helps. PM me.
Sadly, it will. You cannot blame anyone though. The scene inside that Fukushima facility was like chaos as the physicists tried their hardest to cool down the reactor.

1. How come noone has suspected anything has happened when they could clearly see the smokes from the plant from higher buildings?
2. Where is all the wardrobe from people?
3. Where are kitchen elements, like coking stoves?
4. Who turned upside down those bumper cars?
5. If it is intacted for 24 years, why is everything everywhere in complete ruins and chaos?
I constantly have a feeling that buildings are emptied completely!

The song is an old Ukrainian Folk Lullaby called Sleep Is Tiptoeing About (Hodyt' son kolo vikon).
Have a look at the video info in my other "Yuri playing piano in abandoned Pripyat apartment"
it has all the details.

@CarlMontgomery Wow, even Ukrainian folk lullaby's are depressing. History has been hard on that region.
