@millerean Dude calm down... There is no way to delete an admin account unless u have an admin account urself. Yes there is a console command for that but you will have to be admin to execute it. If you want to know what is that command then GOOGLE IT. Also if you don't have enough mem to do that get urself a real computer (Windows, maybe?).
@millerean Your not supposed to delete any accounts. And if your deleting something your supposed to get memory, and also how many gb is left in your hdd?
@GeekOfComedy i want to delete the account that i cant access. i have 20 gigs available on my hard drive. i tried to go through and change the password the way a few other videos said but it didnt work. i dont like that other account on there. im just wondering if there is a way to delete that admin acound through command prompt
@millerean This video is specifically if you want to break the password on the account. Not delete it, your not able to delete an administrator account unless you have another administrator account. This video shows you how to make another administrator account. Once thats created and your logged in, delete the old account (The one i'm presuming you want to delete but not enough memory)
@GeekOfComedy wow as smart as you are you are a fucking retard. i created another admin account. let me repeat. I CREATED AN ADMIN ACCOUNT!!! I KNOW WHAT THE VIDEO IS, I FUCKING WATCHED IT! DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DELETE THE OTHER ACCOUNT THROUGH COMMAND PROMPT? THAT IS MY QUESTION. YES OR NO?
@bjorngodsskolan Like the other comments this will NOT DELETE OF YOUR FILES. The only implication is you lose saved passwords on the computer because keychain is encrypted. Basically you lose all the data everytime on the internet you press "Save password to this computer".
@thuggang007 Thats the only solution found thus far, I think they removed this in Lion. What you need to do if you can find any way is to make the mac think its booting up for the first time!
Hi my kids have setup a password and cant remember it, i have tried your process but it ends up showing the user accounts, is there a way of chatting to you online for help? after doing the 2nd part ◦ rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone it says no such file or directory can you assist advice?
@djjazzydsouthafrica If it's showing user accounts your doing it wrong, also make sure it's typed up right. Like with spaces. If it still can't find the directory then your using a incompatible system (Was tested on OS X Snow Leopard and Leopard)
@snsmjalzaabi Your files are still there :). Just be careful at the end to delete the password and not the account otherwise you will lose 'em files! Although you can't hack the keychain as it's all encrypted and requires the user account password.
@loser9ifcation That's the only way unless you have a 2nd network computer with an admin account where you can run those commands but address it to the particular computer via ip address
@GeekOfComedy@TheMacCommunity yo my dad put a password on my old account which was an administrator and made me a new one with internet restrictions and all that bullshit, how can i find out his password so like it tells me the password itself soi can just log into my old account when ever i want without him knowing? cheers
@Kostaplays You can't. You'd need to make this new account and once you do that when your dads name pops up replace it with the new account name you made in the video and that will work. Any administrator can do anything :)
@Deooguitarrr I believe you keep your preferences however they are restored to the default so it will ask you to enter your wireless password again at bootup and so forth.
@GeekOfComedy Thank you so much for this video. I bought this imac really cheap from a guy and he didn't know the password but thanks to you I can use it now. Again thank you very much.
First off, this video was great, I a a nerd am and watching this for entertainment, and in case I ever did happen to have a use for this lol. Second, love the accent! :0)
Thank you for this video. Do to that I had locked myself out of not being Admin and I was able to down load any update till it was fixed. I found this video I and tried. It had work as you can see. I am person that start in pc but as of August 20,2009. I have been on mac.
@UAExRAP Well if you already have an admin account and can login to it theres no need to do it. On the computer, just go into system preferences, click accounts and add a new admin account. This DOES NOT WORK ON HACKINTOSH'es. Also you hold it after the beep.
thanks so much! i had just bought this mac off a friend but he never gave me the password and i couldn't do anything with out it! this helped alot thanks again :D
Can you do this process in Terminal? Cause thats all I have access to. Stupid school put an "Open Firmware Password" on the laptop that they actually assigned us to. Btw, its mine. We paid for it. In short, I can't get into Single user mode.
@bronymac Nope. All your doing is making a 2nd account as a ADMIN and a admin can do anything so the ADMIN account you made can get rid of the password of any account of your choice XD.
are you a boy or a girl cuz your fucking ugly.... if your a girl, and you have a really high voice if your a guy and ur ugly.... NYYYYYAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
@MrChickenLegss Huh? No if you do the commands your making a fresh new account thats admin, then with that account you can do anything to the computer, you can delete the old admin account, delete the admin password or do things that require an admin to do. Thats it!
@GeekOfComedy srry bout that. im not a mac person so i had no clue wat i was doing. see my school gave mac os x laptops to everyone but they had a sh#tload of restrictions. funny thing is wen i got on to the account i still had all the same restrictions. so im guessing the teachers at my school figuered how to stop it. thnx though
@MrChickenLegss When you entered the account did it make the song. if it did keep continuing, when you do something restricted and it says the name and wants you to enter a password, just enter the name of the account your created with the password you gave it.
@GeekOfComedy i would if i could. wen i try to do something it doesnt ask for administrator stuff it just says "You do not have permission to application 'Terminal'. For more info, contact the person who setup your account". It doesn't ask for the username or password
@MrChickenLegss i can get into stuff now. it worked partially. i have all permissions besides accesing accounts. wen i go to system preferences 'Accounts' and 'Parental Controls' are both faded out and i can't click on them
@MrChickenLegss Well the preferences reset, so after doing it you could delete the admin account with the new fresh one. Apple does it like this, build and boot computer, install software, take the hdd out and delete a user account, put it back into the machine, run the terminal commands on it so it asks the user to pick a language as if you do a format by DVD it asks you when you boot the DVD.
@15catsburg When you entered the terminal commands, you rebooted to like when you first turn on your computer, and of course when you first turn it on the first user you make is a "Admin" So your basically making a 2nd "Admin" Account and that way a "Admin" Can do anything to the system so if you lose your admins password when you made the 2nd admin account you can break the account password of the admin account you lost the password on, you lose the keychain as you always need the password
