@clarenceh75 The run-down hoods aren't an example of anarchy. The ubiquitous police presence alone is evidence of that. Anarchy is the application of the D.I.Y. ethic to all aspects of one's life; it's the balance between cooperation and self reliance, between individual liberty and collectivism. The true anarchist's vision of society is a world in which the basis for all interpersonal relationships is mutual respect, love and friendship, and never coersion or exploitation.
anarchy is fake, its controled rebellion. and in its true form it is hideous, maybe sittin in the suburbs dreaming of burning streets, mass murdering, rape, and robbery sounds good to you but visit any run down hood and tell me that its ok to live like that. I think these guys realized this things and GREW UP.
Anarchy isn't destruction, and I'm sure you've heard that a million times. It's about being free and expressing yourself with no worries of anxiety or self doubt. it's a dream "just give me a seat where the music is free and the beer is not the life of the party, and there's no need to shit talk or to impress, because honesty and emotion and not looked down upon" my favorite line in any song. that's what anarchy is to me. A place where there is no judgement. Or mockery, orhate
@clarenceh75 If thats what you think anarchy is then you are sadly mistaken. Why should any individual have their ideals and desires restricted by government? Enjoy your life of being a useless sheep
All of you are pusses, you're just angry because none of you have a lick of talent. By the way music evolves get over it. Love the new fusion of punk/folk music. His voice has similar qualities of Johnny Cash and I'm lovin it!
@TheZombiessssss no one would care if there music was evolving, people hate new am because we feel it has devolved. the new music is weak. this song is inspiring. the new stuff is an awkward pop-punk trip. i dont feel they r doing their own thing anymore. you know its bad when its on the radio....
@TheZombiessssss Some people look to music for a message not just a singalong tune & beat. Old AM claimed anarchy and solidarity. New AM says the revolution was a lie and anarchy is fake(actual lyrics). This is personally why I dont like them anymore. (A)
I want Against Me! to live by their god damn word and do what the fuck it is they sing about...NOT do what they're doing now... Ummmm hey Against Me!, it's me, your biggest fan, give me the FUCKING MUSIC BACK! I understand you may have had to go for the money but can you not do some side songs for the people who supported you? This new shit you're pumping out is like the most god awful pop fucking crap I've ever heard! I'd rather lick the ass-dick of a god damn frat boy republican. MAN UP!!!!!!!
@keepitsunny and I don't mean this song or any song of its time... I mean EVERY single song they've done with Butch Vagina, I mean Vig, and after. Jesus god damn christ put some bollocks into it guys
@keepitsunny hey bro fuck you i already argued with you just cause your a liberal pi nko fucking commie control freak . just cause you dont believe in making money to support yourself like a man would and want every ones hard labor for free cause your a god damn mamas boy bitch . i guarantee your from a nice suburban home you fucking little rich punk . youve never worked for nothing in your life and your daddy bought your first car . GO FUCK YOURSELF AND YOUR PLAID JEANS PUSSY > MAN UP!
But I do agree with you guys on the rallying and "organizations" (lol) dedicated to sticking it to the man because a majority of the crowd don't have an adequate understanding of the concept they follow. Its all a fad when you boil it down.
I don't know if you have seen it or not,. but Sons of Anarchy has a respectable portrayal of what anarchy is supposed to be. As cliche as that sounds. Anyone interested in finding out a good outlook on the term should invest a little with the first season.
i can agree with that...if you have ever seen the movie SLC punk the guy (mathew lillard) has a huge speech about how anarchy is about being against the system, or following any system whatsoever. but the only way to achieve anarchy is to assemble a mass to enforce it. thus being a system, a higher power, exactly what anarchy isn't.
SLC Punk! isn't about anarchy. In fact it's pretty much a movie about a cliche of a punk, and although I don't remember how he defined anarchy, if that's how he described it he's a little off.
Anarchy is, by definition, "Act[ing] without waiting for instructions or official permission... The root of anarchism is the single impulse to do it yourself: everything else follows from this." according to anarchists..
@splap by definition that is very nice....but a lot of words today have taken on deeper meanings (by social scenes or groups) then the ones the dictionary has. like the swastika. once a symbol of peace.I'm just saying the big letter A that punks are rocking on their wristbands and hoodies might not fallow the exact definition of the word. not ever punk reads dictionaries (or even practices half of what they hear in their favorite songs)
@splap by definition that is very nice....but a lot of words today have taken on deeper meanings (by social scenes or groups) then the ones the dictionary has. like the swastika. once a symbol of peace.I'm just saying the big letter A that punks are rocking on their wristbands and hoodies might not fallow the exact definition of the word. not ever punk reads dictionaries (or even practices half of what they hear in their favorite songs)
the guy in SLC Punk that played shaggy in the scooby do movies defined anarchy as "complete and total chaos...the only thing that ever made sense to us" so ya it wasnt about true anarchists
@cyclesurge0n why the FUCK did 26 people thumbs up this faggot loser? my younger brother almost died from heroin... Go kill yourself bitch, dont spread it to others
Their priorities and vision changed completely and I think there was some coke involved.
I've been into AM forever and first got to see them at the ABC Conference in Austin 7 or 8 years ago or something like that. I never listened to anything after Axl Rose until a couple weeks ago when I heard Searching for... and thought it was OK.
I recently watched Thrash Unreal and puked in my mouth. The fuck, Tom, seriously.
I cant say i like new wave. However, i will always love AM! because the introduced to me a host of political theories that i had no idea existed. I am now more anarchist than anything else and i listen to all their old stuff, but ideas change. I was a faithful american, then i became a socilaist now im an anarchist. I could change my thinking again and i dont hate them for it.
Do you go to anarchist rallies and actually practice anarchism. I doubt it because any anarchist wouldn't just change their beliefs around. Just because you agree with some of the ideals of anarchism in a song does not make you an anarchist. You have to find these things out for yourself. So no i don't believe your an anarchist.
As much as I can, I practice anarchism, I attempt veganism but it is hard to do, I make the things I have to buy last as long as possible. All I said was there old stuff introduced me to the idea of anarchism. I looked up the rest of it online. I am not an anarchist because I hate the govt. though that is a part of it. I am an anarchist because I believe that anarchism is what society should be. I will explain further if it is needed, I am running out of space.
the funny thing about anarchy rallies is that they are a complete slap in the face to what anarchy stands for. Anarchy is supposed to be against following a system or a higher power. so what do they do? they assemble a mass like some nazis and jabber on about being free of restraint
@infernite8907 What you said is the most cliche statement made on music. Also, I do not appreciate your telling me how to take my music. I do with it what I please, Thank you.
the fact of the matter is many say that the only reason so many like myself dont like the new stuff is because they are on a major label but honestly if the music music was still the same i wouldnt care but its not thus proving joining a major record label did cause them to "sell out"
'They USE to be good?' im not even sure who knew these guys before Searching for a Former Clarity. I got into them for their new stuff and im growing to love the old. I love them and they are still true
The reason we say they "used to be good" is because before New Wave, these guys were total anarchists that truly showed what anarchists believed. New Wave showed that they actually didn't care about us and are actually just dirty capitalists.
interesting. I can understand that entirely. But in my view, as long as it still has soul and isnt censored or changed in a terrible way thanks to the music industry, im okay with it.
@Mattmoo36 I remember when RAR FIrst came out... their live shows are still good, but the music and the meaning seems to have changed... and now they're touring in over sized venues that remove any intimacy with the band, and yeah everyone has to make a living... its just not the same when you have to sit down and be a half mile from the band....
Its not Against ME! if you cant get on stage and dance with them
Well of course they are still pretty good, but their old rough sound made them so awesome, now its so pop punk, which i personally don't like too much.
yeah i think if you played this and then something off a newer album someone who already wasn't a fan would never be able to recognize they were the same band, just an opinion.
Against Me! will always be good no matter what record label they are on. They had their reasons, so everybody stop calling them sell outs. A real fan would love their music no matter what.

Against following a system, yes, against being part of a movement (or system if you would like), no. Against being against a higher power, yes.
Being part of a rally isn't conforming to a higher power. It also isn't following a system, it's being part of something you believe in.
