woah :-) i'm 14 and i take singing lessons, but i've just been completely humbled by this. i agree she does go slighty off pitch especially with her higher notes, but it is VERY slight and the notes are so high that that is difficult to avoid. her voice is SO clear and pretty to listen to! she doesnt sound english, where's she from?
This girl is outstanding for a 14 year old. I cannot agree that Elaine Paige is better. She is more experienced but one time is all she need be listened to. This girl has a quality that wants me to keep coming back. If not this girl, then go on to Streisand and be done. Kudos!

You can't expect from a 14 year old that she sings with the same amount of pathos as a veteran lady, though I think her rendition is fairly emotional. She sings this tune with way more seasoned vocal skills than most of her contemporaries and this is already beyond what we can legitimately expect from a girl this age.

Okay, there are a few slightly off notes but they don't question the beauty of the whole, the purity of the emission, the nobility of the line, the richness of the dynamic pallet... 5/5 video. Excellent voice, nice perfmormance, yet, there is someting missing on this song, it is a feeling, it is like sometimes you have to sing it for yourself and forget about anyone else It is almost there, she kinds of have it.
For example the italian version sung by Sara Brightman will give you that shiver that is missing here.

As for the "Touch me" to be held out, she seems to sing on an instrumental here and has to stick to its tempo, and cannot allow herself rubati. With a sole piano accompaniment or better with an orchestra, she could have taken more liberties.

The show did not do her much good.
She was the best and still is but that did not mean she got the great breakthrough she deserves. I truely adore this child ( I am old enough to be her dad), and I believe she deserves a place in Dutch pop history.
Sometimes it feels as if Dutch recordcompanies are to scared to contract her because she is so damn good!
I really adore this girl and wish her all the best in the world.

The French have always had teenstars, like Vanessa Paradis, Elsa and Priscilla. I have been a fan of Elsa since I was 16 (21 years ago) and I have all CD's and DVD's Priscilla released so far. Let us Dutch people have a talent like Tessa to be proud of!

I'll be merciful with Elsa and Vanessa Paradis. Cylia was really good but she vanished. I don't see Tessa like a "teenstar" but as a rare precocious talent who may grow into a legend of singing if she keeps on like this. Don't you wish for her a worldwide career ? I would love to see Tessa like an international star! She's got the talent and her voice should be enough to convince even the most doubtfull people. I really adore this girl and I regret that she is not my doughter. I really think that I am more proud of her than her parents could ever be!

Something I forgot...
Elsa Is probably the best singer I have ever heard. She started with "litlle girl songs" and is stil going strong with high level songs. I used to be a real big fan of Sandra Kim (from Belgium) but Elsa is much better.
There are some songs bij Priscilla (prissou) that I adore, "je vais me'n sortir" to me sounds better than having sex.
Tessa means much more to me because she is dutch and because she is so damn good no one wil accept that she is dutch.

I can't remember hearing such an exhibition of so polished a technique in so young a singer : perfect sustain of the breath on the diaphragm, high and forward placement of the voice in the mask, shimmering and sparkling around her face. And gifted with this amazing strong amber colored bottom register and incandescent pure gold upper one. Besides, jumps from a register to another (chest / head) with an astounding easiness. I'm simply mesmerized by such a beauty and precocity.

But she's the only one, as far as I know, able to handle the murderous tessitura of this song as well as Streisand, and her bottom register is much stronger than Barbra's. And I bet as much as you want that she will survive puberty and will not be a passing glory like Church because she has an infallible vocal technique - and I know what I'm talking about, being myself an ex-opera singer.

The interesting would be to get some videos of Barbra at 14 ! Then, we could compare. It's a truism to say that Streisand is a legend and that she put her print on this song forever, but it doesn't withdraw anything to Tessa's courage to have faced this threatening piece and to her precocious talent.

There, the ex-opera singer coached by a familiar of Callas is going to roar LOL. Is belting out synonymous of good singing for you ? Singing piano requires much more sustain on the diaphragm that belting out and shows a greater taste. And you're absolutely WRONG to say she sings nasal or throaty - except maybe in her humming between 2:18 and 2:48. otherwise, her voice is perfectly forwardly and high placed in the mask. You can clearly hear the high harmonics in her full voice finale.
