@gerbilPROJECT Well this is considered an old CPU now, and no the 920 is a 2.66 with factory settings.. I think you might have confused it with the 960!
@Lightnessdragon3157 yeah shit flies everywhere! It's why I chose to keep the setting to auto after a while since I wasn't quite sure what was going on! =)
@ Valentine319 turn off Turbo boost. BLCK Freq at 185. CPU votage to 1.35. CPU PLL voltage to 1.96 QPI/DRAM voltage to 1.35. If you are using DDR3 1600 RAM you can set DRAM voltage at 1.66V otherwise at 1.5V DO NOT USE STOCK HEATSINK! im using a ThermalRight. This will set OC at 3.7Ghz and mine is running 10 degrees cooler than yours. And get a solid state hard drive. Window 7 Ultimate will boot in 6 seconds flat
@psudogreg Yeah I was looking for solid digits! THANK YOU!! Are you sure I can run at 1.66? The motherboard came with a warning not to go over 1.65.. Just trying to save up cash right now for that SSD, the heatsink has been changed to a Corsair H70 and it's given me decent results ;)
@SteveThePCGamer Look at what your cooler's manufacturer recommends, depending on the cooler you know how much heat it can remove from the CPU and you can also guess the maximum clock speed you can give it. I would say it's possible if you can keep the temperatures low. The way you do this is to just leave the CPU voltage on [AUTO] and put the clock freq. on 200Mhz and the multiplier on 18 (200*18=3600Mhz=3.6Ghz)
@jesuschrist18 That's very nice to hear man I'm glad it worked! That's why I made this video!! Really happy I could help you! Pretty decent rig right there!! =)
@jesuschrist18 You can use the same software as I used for temperature, stress testing and clock speed views (You can even use task manager for that!) About the voltages I searched that and for the 930 it is recommended you leave it on "auto". It means the motherboard will adjust to the CPU's needs. All the rest should be exactly the same no changes! Write everything down on paper so you have it when you are in the BIOS ;) makes you feel a little more comfy!
i7 920 to 3.2ghz? Heck, my i7 2600 only will do that with UNDERCLOCKING!
By the way, isn't the 920 already 3.2ghz?

@cip315 Eh never tried it but google can help you find others that have, ask them how it went!

Hi
My Spec
Intel i7 build 920 2.8GHz CM V8 CPU cooler
6GB RAM
Foxconn Flaming Blade
XFX ATI HD 5770
750 W
500GB HDD
Can i overlock my CPU to 3.6GHz? And can you suggest any idea what is the best way to do this?
