A young attractive woman does not need much fill. Too many photogs are using too much fill to compensate for their sloppy lighting and posing. Shadows are what provide dimensionality and sculpt the face and body, not light per se. Everytime you fill, or over fill, shadows you are reducing this dimensionality and creating a 2D image instead of a 3D image. Use fill very judiciously, and always ask yourself whether the model at hand really needs much fill. Nicole does not need much fill at all.
@famousPhotog I agree so much. Much of what I see being put out there by "pro" photographers is so overlit that all detail and shape is washed out. I work in the dark almost exclusively, and use just a few lights.
This video seems more about lighting a portrait customer than lighting an actual model. I wouldn't use any of the techniques described for a fashion or commercial model, for example. Clients would likely even reject this lighting for facial cosmetics.
Nevermind, I think it was actually the flash you used that made the lighting off balance. I think her portrait would have come out better with the warm, pinkish lighting you had in the studio, before your flash caused the different balance of lighting.
did i miss read that description, "professional photographer"? A professional photographr would use a proper reflector. A gold one would be better to give the skin a warmer tone. but hey what do I know, Hes a 'Professional'!

Good tutorial on reflective light, and very pretty model, but on my screen it looks like you put too much reflective light on her.

Too much work goes into pale-shading, and less to BULB configuration, in tems of camera/film production.
