lovely dogs! Their behaviour is different to what my pets do, non-huskies, but they understand each other. Interesting to watch how they play.

Are they good guard dogs and is one the leader or do they both consider you as owner to be leader? What are they like as pets and with other animals and people?

I would like to get one, but am worried as to how it would react to a cat and dog I already have. The cat can look after itself as it smacks the dog on the nose if he barks too much!

@urbex2007 huskies have very strong pack / prey instincts. If introduced young, they need to be taught where they stand in the pack by a trustworthy pack leader. One of the highest energy working dog. A happy husky needs ALOT of exercise, easily covering 10 km a day. They make terrible guard dogs and welcome all. A bored huskies can be destructive / curious, dig 3 ft, climb 10 to explore / hunt / find their pack. They shed heavily year round and "drop their entire coat twice a year & I luv em!

Firstly, contrary to common belief, huskies arent "half bred" with wolves. Technically, the common german shepherd is more of a genetic wolf mix.

Secondly and most importantly, look at how the huskies lips are drawn back to expose their frontal teeth. Their ears are also perked up and and they do not avoid eye contact, which is something dogs normally do when they show submission.

This is not love. If anything its semi-violent playing. And it most certainly isnt making out.

I had littermates: a male and female. They used to do this all the time.They sang at night and would even mirror each other when they laid down. It about killed me when we lost them both last year.
