my 3 month old corn snake has bitten me twice while i was holding him but he has NEVER bitten me while i was feeding him so i think your thing was kinda opposite for my snake. if you hold the mouse at the very bottom the snake kinda cant bite you.
Okay the idiot who gets a SNAKE is an idiot ... the idiot who believes it was THEIR fault that a snake bit them is a bigger idiot for not thinking of that in the first place !
@myjustmehere you should definately seperate them. If you dont theyll associate their home with food so every time you reach in they think its food time and theyre much more susceptible to bite you.
@BonzBoi19 no you cant, if you buy a baby corn or any snake get one of those boxes and keep your snake in the box until the snake can fit all around the box from head to tail, that is the most common way and then but your snake into a reptile tank eg ask for viv, and i dont really no what those boxes are called, i have only ever bought one baby corn and all my other snakes are adults hope i was helpfull :)
you shoud feed your corn snake in a different inclosure for more than one reason A. eveything he said and B. so the snake doenst injest any substrate while eating
@586lilkiller the biggest reason for removing your snake from his cage for feeding is that he can accidentily swallow substrate while eating the mouse which can cause internal problems. It can also prevent the snake from growing food aggresive when associating his cage, your hands, and food lol.
if you're not worried about that you can just put a seperate container in the cage and feed him in it.
a corn snake bite, to an experienced reptile owner, isnt even really a bite, expecially if its a baby. their teeth arent long enough to break the skin. you still need to be careful and not take advantage of that when raising a baby, because if your not careful, 1 you could harm it, and 2, you could cause it to grow up and be agressive. i keep boas, and im more careful (as is with every other large snake keeper) with boa babies, because their teeth are longer, but boas are less skiddish
poisions snakes have fangs with holes like straws and have a vemon sack and when they open their mouth they pull out their fangs and use the muscles in the poison sack to shoot vemon it to the fangs into the prey but non vemonous snakes have soild fangs
they are amazing beginner pets, just when they are young they are nippy at first, and are very energetic, they relax with age and handling. PS get cage clamps, they love to escape. a more docile substitute is a ball python, they are relaxed but get a bit bigger, also great pets. i own both and i love them.
The best for starters. Feed once a week, clean water daily, and you don't need a heater really only if you live in a colder climate. And don't forget a hideout for it, shoe box, plastic bowl etc. ;)
Oh thank you^_^ When i live in my own house i will get a corn snake. I dont know a whole lot about taking care of snakes but i can study while im waiting to move out. Do they bite? What do they eat?
yea they do bite...my brother got bitten cause he wasnt paying attention nd he looked down while holding the snake for the 1st time...the snake was also not used to humans so it was really nervous
im concerned of my corn snake its 4 yrs old i just got it and it always goes in its rock, i tried turning off the lamp and still its going in its rock ALLL THE TIME. it gets excited when i handle it though.
they say your not supposed to handle your corn snake for a day or two after he's eaten, as he might regergatate, so how do u get him back in the vivarium

Do you absolutely have to put it in a separate place to feed it? Can't you just put the food in the normal enclosure? :/

@MyJustMeHere no it's fine. it's because they get territorial over their viv. if you put it somewhere unfamiliar, it can't get territorial
