Great to see them shout out to David Bowie. He dominated the seventies. The amount of creativity and brilliance that he managed to cram into one decade is utterly unparalleled by anybody. Life On Mars?, Quicksand, The Bewlay Brothers, Changes, Andy Warhol (underrated song), All the Madmen, Width of a Circle, Cygnet Committee, Five Years, Rock N Roll Suicide, Soul Love, ZIggy Stardust, Lady Grinning Soul, All the Young Dudes, Always Crashing in Same Car, Heroes, etc and then SCARY MONSTERS!!!!

The reason why MGMT doesn't like to be described as indie is because most innovative artists don't like to be placed under a specific label. They're striving to create their own style and feel that specific labels force them into a category of music that has already been explored. This is why many artists describe themselves as simply "rock and roll." It leaves plenty of room for them to develop their style of music in which ever direction they prefer.

Because Mgmt are good enough they wont have too change for the majors either, which is why people usually go for minor or indie labels because they have more control but don't get castles...
