  • It would be cool, to see what effect this would have on a small B&W cathode ray tube.

  • u r the best person EVER!!!!:)

  • put that in your pipe an smoke it

  • whats the black stuff that looks like coal

  • @TheRolemodel1337 He said it was sodium silicate.

  • @thesuraking oh i missed it then thx :)

  • "Please subscribe, rape and comment!"

  • they melt that guy in breaking bad with hydrofluric acid pretty scary stuff

  • your soup looks very tasty. yummmm

  • If you got that on your skin how would you neutralize the burn.

  • @yuyupb Puke on your skin?

  • I worked in medicinal manufacturing and we used to use Sodium Hydroxide all the time, it's actualy not that bad when you get used to using it. The only thing is it really sting your throat when you heat it up. like a chillie of fire.

  • where did he get his sodium hydroxide

  • @AspiringCriminals Usually in near the plumbing stuff at any home improvement or hardware store. You can buy pure sodium hydroxide online.

  • Hydrofluoric acid is some pretty bad shit. It fucked up a kid's arm in high school.

  • is there a way to obtain clear liquid sodium hydroxide? it seems like it corroded the steel a little and turned itself brown. what kind of substance is completely resistant to sodium hydroxide corrosion?

  • @r77xxl The can used looks like it was coated with epoxy. I'll venture that the epoxy coating is turning brown and chipping away under the action of intense heat and NaOH.

  • @r77xxl You could use platinum cans (they're usually just for that) but have much fun paying for them. I think clay could also work but not sure if the aluminium oxides in it are attacked.

  • @r77xxl Superman's left toe.

  • This is very dangerous , inhalation of NOAH can make you blind forever

  • @scorpionting "Inhalation" is breathing it in. the eyes aren't part of the respiratory system.

  • @scorpionting I would never inhail Noah, especially if I don't know who he is.

Oh you mean NaOH... Never mind.

  • I can't tell if you're using a voice changer, if you're in a fume hood, or you're just Darth Vader.

  • I've used a hot-dog as an analog for a human finger to show the dangers of high voltage. What do you believe would happen if you placed a piece of a hot-dog in the molten sodium hydroxide? Would it just dissolve it, or end up spitting and splattering all over the fume hood?

  • @acronus The latter one, because it contains a high percentage of water.

  • I would be an EXCELLENT way of turning empty bottles in to drinking glasses;-D

  • I dare you to put you're finger in there :)

  • Can glass be reconverted to sand?

  • I'm glass and I'm offended.

  • Comment removed

  • makes me glad i dont have glass pipes

  • WOW SEEMS LIKE TASTY COFFEE

  • i dare you to touch it :D

  • What that black stuff

    >

  • @mcwario13 Sodium Silicate.

  • Now i know how to get inside my neighboor's house without being noticed...

  • Wanders to human flesh you say... Hmmm could it be a garte way to get rid of a dead body....?

    >jk<

  • Finally, I got some HF

  • whats ll that balckshit?

  • i am an experiosned chemist

    13 years old

and i have preformed the famed baking soda and vinegar

...i i i mean the vinegar with bleach hahaha

  • @elflordbob1 im also 13 years old i have made potassium nitrate smoke bombs, molten potassium chlorate and suger, thermite, i made red iron oxide. i have a ball mill with steel and lead grinding material, etc. so that put your experiment to shame!

  • @kilsdonk123

but you have never even attempted the vinegar and baking soda...you know how dangrous it is

  • @elflordbob1 yes i have, i use baking soda and ketchup in a shampoo bottle and blasted my friend and i also made a vinegar and baking soda cannon

  • @kilsdonk123

    well i concentrated a solution of 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine

    beat that

    or better pronounce it

  • @elflordbob1 i already have

  • @elflordbob1 ive also made potassium metal from magnesium and coalesce it together

  • @kilsdonk123

well...i made babies....how long have we been at this???

  • @elflordbob1 about a month and ???

  • @kilsdonk123

well its time we realize we are mortal enemies and rivals so we must always competete against each other in carrer...im gonna be a inorganic chemistish

  • @elflordbob1 ya probably... i was thinking of being a pyrotechnic. well good luck and good bye

  • also, make a video where you show us what that stuff does to flesh by pooring some on some pork with the skin still on it, we need these answers so we dont have to take the risk ourselves ;D

  • @briantonysmith As it is a base (I think it's called a base in english, no idea. Its pH is above 7), it can dissolve fats really well. How do you think NaOH dissolves the fats in drains? It just so happens that the membranes of your cells are mostly composed of fats, and some proteins. Do the math. Or... chemistry?

  • @Gebruikersbewi i like visual demonstrations, if its so bad for your flesh, show us what it does to pork since pork is really close to human flesh.

  • so how do you dispose of that stuff when your finished?

  • Comment removed

  • @briantonysmith hmmmm put it in red biohaxard bags and throw it into the ocean?

  • @briantonysmith let it cool down, then dilute in large amounts of vinegar

  • @briantonysmith react it with acid and wash it down the drain. reacting with acid neutralises it and the sodium becomes a salt (e.g. HCl reacts to form H2O and NaCl)

Of course, you'd have to filter it and get rid of pieces of glass + remove silicate impurities...

Most environmentally friendly way would be to distil the water and recover the salt or something.

  • @briantonysmith Pur it down the sink, it will clean yuor drain at the same time

  • @briantonysmith With vinegar...

  • @briantonysmith i would go about it with like 4 molar sulfuric acid

  • I heard "Lucky Luciano" watched NurdRage for tips on getting rid of "evidence" if ya know what I mean.......... forget about it!

  • wait did he just tell us how to get rid of our ex's?1:45

  • @MegaReddevil91 what?

  • is that your real voice?'cause if it is,you have the deepest voice on the Earth!

  • today in class we used solid NaOH, and damn that stuff is very corrosive, some of it went in contact with my glove while i was adding it to a solution, and a single piece turned my glove orange from the corrosion and i had a slight burn feel in my finger.

  • Thanks for the info keep the good work

  • You know what Sodium Hydroxide does? Straighten Hair

  • @Dman4Life8017 makes pretty good soap too...

  • lets talk in a spooky voice....

  • By the way, one short question, did you ever work with conc. HF?

  • This thing is so strong that it can disolve sh!t stuck in drains.

  • I love chemical destruction , and so I love you hehe

  • whats wit the top comments o.O?

  • What are those black things?

  • thats awsome

  • So is it just molten sodium hydroxide that can eat through glass, or can aqueous NaOH eat through glass as well?

  • @TerminalRhinoVirus

I would very much like to know this as well.

  • @TerminalRhinoVirus It can, but it does so at a much slower rate than its near 100% form.

  • @TerminalRhinoVirus Pretty sure it has to be molten...

  • @TerminalRhinoVirus

Just molten, or my glass termometer would be totally fucked up!

  • @TerminalRhinoVirus Just molten NaOH. Aqueous NaOH should be safe in glass containers.

  • @TerminalRhinoVirus No - only molten NaOH can 'eat' glass so quickly. It could take years for an aqueous solution to make any noticeable damage to glass.

  • you have the voice off SAW HAHA I NO ITS A VOICE CHANGER

  • Cooking meth with the saw guys voice masking

  • I dare you to lick it then sit on it like that guy from that one video where it breaks inside him.

  • Hydroflouric Acid: You read my mind....Could you please tell me the specifics of why its so toxic? It's, in minute amounts, in a brand of rust remover that does the same thing at 3%...I do not want to see 100%......(yes i do)

  • @nurdrage i hope you can answer me i want to make lithium carbonate and i was thinking if i neutralized sulfuric acid with lithium hydroxide id get lithium sulfate and then while thats in solution i neutralize it with baking soda to get lithium carbonate can someone plzzzzzz tell me if this is a plausible approach your answer will be much appreciated

  • I like the Voice man!! are you Lukes Father? Just asking

  • why is your voice modulated?

  • I'm going to call my son a strong base too

  • Are you using a voice changer or is that your real voice lol

  • I think John Carmack (founder of ID software) used this same compound to break in to his elementary school to steal a computer when he was a kid.

  • Holy sh!t, so that's like Ailen blood? :D

  • this is commonly called fusion in the books...............when you read "fused" in hot h2so4 or" fused" in hot hydroxide this is what they are talking about.............

  • wanta play a game? i concerns hyrdrofloricacid

  • I would imagine, that if a paste (or as is) was made, one could paint a design on glass; etch it to the desired depth; wash it off and so have etched glass.... all with out needing hard to get chemicals.... just darin cleaner. tnx

  • i bloody love you, your voice and your experiments <3

  • jigsaw is that u?

  • DRAAAIIINNNOOOOO BOMBBBBBSSSSSSSSSSSSS :D:D:D:D:D

  • How did you dispose of it?

  • I wish you were my chem teacher :/

  • Now that I Think of it, I Would want to see Sodium Hydroxide Dissolving Aluminum.

  • oh how shameful glass that withstand being in sulfuric acid for hour and still come out shining taken down by drain cleaner

  • Solutions of sodium hydroxide also eat glass, however it us so slow you don't need to worry about it.

  • does this disolve dead neighb... uhm.. animals and stuff?

  • what is the black layer on the surface?

  • im such a fan

  • Lol love how he says "It does Wonders on the human body" XD

  • Do you ingest sulfur hexafluoride before every video?

  • i love how he said it does wonders to human flesh.........

  • That was a vial experiment!

  • i drink hydrofluric acid for breakfast

  • Very true about what it does to skin. Im still in and out of the hospital cuz of that lol love the vids

  • question how do you store hydrofloric acid then?

  • @spedygunzallus Steel containers.

  • @spedygunzallus steel or special plastic containers. I think PE or PP should be safe

  • @djteac PE = invincible

  • All you need is some of this in a spray bottle to get through glass doors. Then some stuff that you can store in a spray bottle that eats away Bank valuts real fast lol. He sounds like the guy off the SAW movies uh oooo lol.

  • Also dissolve your life

  • I love that. "Also does wonders for the human flesh, (warning stated)"

  • What pH is Hydrofluoric Acid?

  • why you not used HF? it is faster than sodium hydroxide

  • but will it blend???????

  • So, can I dissolve a body in a hot tub?

  • You rock man!

  • How about not doing this at all, unless you work for a company and get paid to do it.

Although if you draw the line at HF I figure you will probably make it through the day.

  • wonders to human flesh? you mean like it will help my eczema?

  • @BlackMasterRoshi well, it will turn the outer layers of your skin into soap... so probably not.

  • @TuckshopBandito !!!

So you're saying that you can just wash your hands at any given time without having to lug a bunch of soap around?? That's incredible! When are they going to start marketing this breakthrough?

  • @BlackMasterRoshi they wont market it, but your theory is partially correct, but when the oils on your skin is gone, its exposed to a very corrosive chemical, so i wouldnt encorage it.

  • @MegaChemboy So you're saying it could clean my bones too? That's excellent! I'm due for a good bone-cleaning.

  • @BlackMasterRoshi if you want to clean your bones, use hydrogen peroxide, that what they use to whiten fossil, animal skulls .etc :D good luck with that!

  • I dare you to stick your balls into the mixture.

  • what makes sodium hydroxide so corrosive when liquid and not as bad when solid?

  • @oglow100 its more from the heat. the heat does not melt the glass but it is a catalyst. also the surface of the glass has the potential to be completely covered when the sodium hydroxide is liquid.

  • @waragainstgreed technically heat isn't a catalyst, but it does increase reaction rate, only because it excites the atoms/molecules to move at a faster rate which increases the amount of collisions between particles so that things happen faster. Catalysts are usually transition metals, but in bio they can be enzymes. Not too sure on the bio catalysts, but catalysts would be over the yield sign in the chemical formula where heat would be on the left side in joules.

  • @oglow100 : Try stirring sugar into a lump of ice, then think about it. :)

  • @WhiteHawkUK is it about surface area or more about temperature?

  • @oglow100 : A bit of both, basically. Higher temperatures generally increase rates of reaction, as particles have greater kinetic energy (move around faster), they are more likely to be brought into contact with each other. Particles in a liquid move around more freely than in a solid and so are more likely to be brought into contact with particles from a substance immersed in it. Bringing two solids into contact with each other only allows a tiny portion of their surface to make contact. :)

  • @WhiteHawkUK ah yeah i understand thanks for clearing things up :)

  • @oglow100 : T'is a pleasure. :)

  • are new videos coming soon?

  • or you can just throw it on the ground...

  • it would be awesome if you can teach me AP thermodynamics............ D: you should make a video about it haha

  • do not do this unless ur an experienced chemist.....or u if just want to see ur bones without the use of an xray....

  • so whats the point of the voice?

  • what would happen if i put a fluorecent light bulb in there

  • Where do you buy you vials? I can't find any vials even expensive ones.

  • so wut would happen if u put gun powder in there

  • Now I know what I should use to break through safety glass at the jewelery store without triggering the vibration sensors!

  • either you editted your voice or you have a really deep voice. GREAT vids man! keep up the good work!

  • I can't decide if I want this guy to say, "Glass is no match for the dark side of the force" or "Boris and Doris, your mission will be to dissolve a glass vial in lye slag". Interesting vid though!

  • hydrochloric acid eats glass? how come do we store it in glass then?

  • @polzowatel no, hydrofluoric acid eats glass, not hydrochloric.

  • @NurdRage oh right -__-

  • @NurdRage about glass, i dont think youve done this before so:

im not sure what it is (something like baking powder), but when you throw it at glass, the glass shatters. can you find out what that powder is (some kitchen substance), and shatter glass with it?

  • @polzowatel lol :D

  • @polzowatel its hydroFLOURIC that eats glass. hydroCHLORIC is completely different. hydroflouric goes through bone like butter and doesent burn till its too late, the limb will need amputation then.. really realy bad shit. the stuff in this vid isnt as bad.

  • @polzowatel it's hydroflouric not hydrochoric. when it comes to acid chlor might be mean but flour is a fucking bitch

  • @nybotheveg Actually, it is written hydrofluoric acid, not hydroflouric

  • @vmelkon i didn't correct on the acid part, so it was implied that, that part would still stand.

  • Thanks for being the first person I know to put in your own subtitles. Not that I need them, I would rather hear your awesome voice, just thanks for going through the extra work to make sure everyone else gets satisfaction from your educational videos.

  • @Morbuzka thanks for noticing! :)

  • Glass rhymes with ass!

  • 23 people thought wonders to flesh was good... <.<

  • you should totally put some flesh in there. obviously people i mean like a chicken leg or something that has already been dead. possibly like a piece of chicken from the store. again for people who are not using their brain just re-read what i just typed.

  • Lol it looks like coffee with coffee jelly

  • is there any material you can put on the the glass, so that the glass will only be etched away in a certain place?

  • @ainsleywainsley : Yes, masking is common. As well as abrasive techniques like sand blasting, acid etching is employed commercially to render logos and designs on glass; frosting on decorative mirrors and window panes, for instance. Masking can also be used to etch designs into coloured laminations to create more complex designs (such as white flowers etched onto a coloured glass surface - where the coloured glass lamination has been etched to reveal uncoloured glass beneath). :)

  • Is this Walt?

  • don't play with this crap mate. I have been burnt by it. a chemical splash in my face due to faulty equipment at our refinery. It isn't nasty it's bloody scary stuff.

  • So, is this dangerous to try in your kitchen? :)

I was thinking of that :D

  • "sodium hydroxide does wonders to human flesh" mad scientist serial killer diary

  • lol i have played with hydroclhoric acid and i am 13... true story i did it in a power plant

  • @bloodxx54321xxblood Hydrochloric acid isn't that dangerous and honestly I've used it in chemistry without gloves. He's warning about HydroFLUORic acid, which is one of the most dangerous substances known to man, will destroy human flesh on contact and has a relatively low boiling point, so if even a droplet is out of place, a building has to be evacuated. Nasty stuff.
