  • I am a nursery nurse and I agree entirely.

  • Formal education does start too soon in this country but the EYFS is a symptom not the root cause of the problem. In itself it is actually doing good within a poor educational system. I there is nothing inherently wrong with the ELGs; I am a reception teacher and the reading and writing goals are achieved by the vast majority of children at the end of their reception year already- there is too much focus on these and not enough on the bigger picture of early years.

  • 100% with you guys for literacy goals, delaying EYFS untill yr 1 and parental choice.However I think the EYFS can potentially lead to much more child led curriculum.

    ICT does NOT just refer to "screen technology" with the goal being to "Find out about and identify the uses of everyday technology and use information and communication technology and programmable toys to support their learning."

    "before the age of five..."but the eyfs phase ends at 60months+.Where did you get this info from?
