  • u seem like a very sweet person

  • How muck milk does on goat yield in a day? Also are you a self sustained type of household? Thanks in advance :)

  • How do you get her to stand still?

  • Isn't that "foam" the creme?

  • @MrBagginsEsq - Not cream, goat's milk doesn't have cream. It is naturally homogenized so the fat particles stay in suspension instead of rising to the top. I dump the foam cause thats where any dust or hair or any thing that might be blowing in the breeze has landed.

  • @MrBagginsEsq No, goat milk is homogenized.

  • skim milk never looked like that. I bet that TASTES a LOT better.

  • Is the taste of milk is good, and how old cow

  • i'm getting a goat soon, but do you have to boil the milk or something, what do you do? and is this a pgmy goat or a regular goat, which one produce's more milk? and when should i start milking my goat, after a year? and will it always produce milk? and are you supposed to milk both sides? sorry for all the questions, but it would be a big help if you can answer them :)

  • Over a quart from ONE of miss rubys teats?? WOW! I have my first goat milking..and she gave me two daughters..and give me over a quart each milking..any ad\vice on how to up her production?

  • she got such big..wonderful tits hahha

  • do you have to milk dairy goats?

  • @claudialovesanimals They wouldnt be dairy goats if they werent milked now would they?

  • @erintubb yes they still would be dairy goats. just like meat goats are still meat goats if you dont eat them.

  • @claudialovesanimals You do not HAVE to \. for example if you just allowed the kids to nurse off her you really done need to

  • thats like cool sparing water gun lol

  • wow i love your videos u should keep making the

  • i dont know if i missed this but what breed is mrs. ruby

  • @HorseyHow2Channel She was a full blood French Alpine. She was fine last Friday nite when I milked her, she got sick Saturday morning, and was dead Sunday morning. I found a large purple area with 2 small puncture wounds in it on the back of her udder. That is the third attack of the fanged death in the last 3 years. The other 2 recovered, but I think it must have been a poisonous snake that got my lovely ole Ruby. I miss her, and her daughters miss her too.

  • @JanetinTenn

hi JanetinTenn, i live in canada and i want to have a source of raw milk aswell(i love your videos) and i personally have no experience with goats or cows and i am wondering how much is a goat?? price range between??

  • @renagade12 - Hello, I sell my full grown milking does for $250 - $400. Depending on each individual's milk making capacity, breed and age. Some, like Ms. Ruby, make huge amounts of milk and some, like my dear old Grace, only made a couple of quarts per day. Good luck and get yourself a couple of good milk goats, you will never regret it.

  • @JanetinTenn

thank you for your response i most certainly will get myself some good milking goats soon in the future:).. can you recommend a certain breed ?

  • @JanetinTenn thats so sad :,(

  • @JanetinTenn it suck that the goat died

  • @JanetinTenn what is fanged death?

  • @ScopedOUT2 - Fanged death = poisonous snake

  • Loved the video but I have one piece of advice, a glass jar really isn't a good idea because as you know it can be knocked off and will shatter, try a stainless steel pail, they're easyer to disinfect and keep clean, just a tip.

  • i love ms ruby

  • This is a great upload! I am thinking of getting some goats.

  • I want to get goat!

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaa , That's so cool

  • As usual, you take really good care of your goats. When you milk them, you calm them down by talking to them. And you never squeeze their teats and udders. Most guys just squeeze their udders which make them very uncalm.

I have a goat at home. She looks just like miss garnet, only her name is Twinky! I milk her every Friday or Saturday. I also have another goat names Strawberry and her udder is totally round like a balloon. And I have two baby girl goats that are growing their udders. lol

  • Hi. thanks for this video, you made it look so easy! i have just got a milking goat with her two kids. first she is a bit afraid though when we get her we can pat her and she looks nervous but she is ok. we can milk her but it a bit hard. it took us like half an hour to get 100ml.

i watched your video and tried to copy your technique but it doesnt come out that fast. what am i doing wrong? first squirts come out then it just stops! please help!

and will she get used to us??

  • @GuiltyOfBeingMuslim - The milk probably stops because she is empty. If the kids are nursing her, then they are getting most of the milk. You will have to separate them for several hours to get milk for your self. Most folks around here separate the doe from the kids overnight and milk for themselves in the morning.

The more you talk to her and pet her and feed her, the sooner she will get used to you. thanks for the comment - janet

  • Do you drink the milk raw? How do you prepare it, if at all? Also is it easy to make cheese/butter/ice cream out of goat milk?

  • @JanetinTenn HI, I was just wondering.. if i seperate the kids from the doe, would it be bad for the kids .. i mean would they be very hungry and without milk. how much milk is enough for the kids ?

  • @JanetinTenn I would like to own a farm one day..

  • Your goats do have nice teats and utters - they are very calm - ours milk good too, but are a little restless and every once in a while will kick the jar over or put their hoof in it.

Thanks for a very good video Janet!

  • great but can't hear it all to well...

  • thanks

  • Nice Video. I used narrow mouth bottle instead to avoid falling hair, dust, etc. you can use e.g. rose syrup bottle or Vimto drink syrup. Good luck!

  • @JanetinTenn

    Thanks for the kind response!

Tell me, will my Alpine buck and La Mancha doe produce a fairly good dual purpose animal(kind of like my Plymouth White Rocks; eggs/meat)?

What would you suggest, since I am just a beginner?

Are there any natural wormers out there for goats, in case this economy gets worse?

Any suggestions you can give will be great appreciated.

By the way, your rocket stove was cool:)

  • @JanetinTenn

Tell me, have you ever eaten goat meat?

The meat, as far as I can see on videos resemble beef.

    What does it taste like?

I've bought 1 buck(Alpine) and 1 doe(La Mancha) and of course, any male kids they produce will become Whethers.

I plan on getting a few more does down the road, hoping to have enough animals should this economy crash.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this. I have two new girls ready to pop and am excited and anxious for mine and their first milkings. Really appreciate you posting your techniques and ideas. :-)

  • Animals whose I have known that enjoy milkings are holstein cows and dairy buffaloes.., but i doubt about goats..

  • Near the end, your dear Ruby began to kick.. I think goats are the hardest dairy animal to milk.. They are very stuborn, it dosen't seem that she's enjoing it.. She tolerates it. Tolerates is far different to love or to like. Tolerance= force.

  • gotta love goats milk.

  • ms ruby looks real nice! id love to have her out on my farm for some good milk! does she ever spit

  • mmmmm..... that looks good is there a certian tecneque to that

  • Hi Janetin, thank you for your reply. The update is this: She tried to lay down...as the other owner said, but i lifted her leg gently and she jumped up, we have got to the stage now where i found she likes bread and she is getting to know me, so she will let me do the milking but does have the occasionly kick now and again. Thank you for your reply and also for your videos. By the way, her milk is like 'heaven' so milky and creamy...i love it!

  • have you got any advice for a goat who tries to sit down when you touch her udders as you get ready to milk?

  • You've to tell more about the goat. The goats always stand up when u try to milk them. It's natural thing to do. They may kick but not sit. Try to stand up behind the goat and lift one of its rear leg high and milk with one of the hands. The goat will not be able to sit and u'll have the milk. Tell me if it works.

  • Thank you for your reply. Goat is around two years old and has had one offspring, the offspring is now being weaned and the mother is going to be used as a milking goat, person who is the previous owner said that she tried to milk it and it tries to sit down when the teats are touched...she said she has never been hand milked before...i am now having this goat off this person and this is why i posed the question.

  • Hi pklfsh,

I remember someone telling me once about the same thing happening to them. They solved their problem by putting a 5 gallon bucket (with weight inside, and lid on) on the milk stand under the goat's belly. She couldn't sit down, and had to stand there and be milked. Let us know how it works for you.

  • I always wondered about the differences of the teats on milking goats. I really like the feel of the Saanen, but that's the only kind I've ever tried.

  • You might be right spankses:) I can see that she arches each time when her udder or stomach is toached.

  • Do they love or enjoy being milked??

  • look at her full udder....can u imagine the releif she gets from being milked? and milking is actually more gentle than her own babies.

  • lol Ruby is my goats name !

  • Does she have teats like the Ruby herein. It'd feel good to milk this ruby.

  • wow!!, that milk is coming down like a water gun does!!!!

  • How often does the goat kick the milk off the table? lol

  • Its called a milk stand, and she never kicks it off. Shes not a cow. Cows kick, goats don't.

  • Your goats must be better trained than mine, because mine will kick any time they're not happy, say for example if the feed runs out before I'm finished milking. They have kicked the milk receptacle off the milking stand more than once, even though I try to be fast in protecting it.

  • Of all the many dairy goats that I have had, I've never had one that kicked. I had a mother and daughter that fidgeted and jiggled around til I put a big wide strap across their back and tied it to each side of the milk stand. Had several that would occasionally adjust their leg positions and accidently put a hoof into the milk bucket, but never any kickers. Goats learn from other goats, and my first goats had been show goats, and had good manners, and all my girls know their names.

  • The best thing I ever invested in was my milking machine from Hoegger. I love it!

  • putting a goat on a table is a great idea! easier to milk and they can't poop in the milk!

  • Do you have to use a sertain kind of towel or something to wipe of the udder b4 milking??

  • When I first started milking goats I went through a whole big disinfecting procedure, but goats are very clean animals and I just use a damp paper towel now. It gets off all the dust and little pieces of hay and loose hairs so nothing falls into my milk. There is never any poop or anything dirty on them.
