  • A squirrel park! I love it! That statue is incredible! Great video...

  • hi.i'm living here but you came here to see the Buddha this year?!wow.did you like it??

  • It would have been one intense construction job! I watched some of it on the Discovery channel when I lived in Canada.

  • I am glad you put down the books and enjoy life sometimes. That is big damn statue.

  • All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

  • Great video!!. :D

    大仏様かぁ~俺も見に行ってみたいな♪

  • Thanks! You should check it out!

    ^_^

  • Thanks! Glad you like my stuff!

  • Wow, those Buddhists knew how to build!

  • Knew! It's not very old, it was built in 1993 I think. :p

  • Great video. That's one gigantic Buddha! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • It looked like a pretty massive construction effort from the pictures they displayed. Just imagine the size of the cranes needed to build it!

The even crazier thing is that the skyscraper in dubai is almost 8 times as high as this statue!

  • that's amazing! i have actually been to the sitting Big Buddha in Hong Kong which is at 34m tall. man did i think that was huge, not anymore though lol! the ushiku daibutsu makes it seem tiny!

  • 34m is still pretty big for a statue! The ushiku daibutsu was an amazing sight though!

  • That looks Incredible !

  • It was pretty cool!

  • I think this was in a movie with Tsuchiya Anna...

  • Beats me!

  • Whats the Station name for this Buddha mate? What Line?

  • It's at Ushiku station. You can take the Joban line the entire way there from Nippori station. When you get to Ushiku you need to get on the bus at stop #1 and for 500円 it will take you right to the statue (about a 20 min ride there).

  • nice one!

  • Thanks!

  • awesome-ness

    5/5 :p

  • Thanks!

  • yeyuh! diablo. you diablo you. cool vid! nice locations!

  • Cool song! Thanks for putting it up!

  • Now I know who to summon if the statue of liberty ever comes to life lmao

  • That Buddha could just sit on the statue of liberty!

  • I wanna see em duke it out and maybe have godzilla join the fight!

  • i'd like to see that too!

  • Ooo - you're the 2nd person I've ever known to go there...I'm the other.

There's some AWESOME bamboo forests in that area if you just wander around a bit from the daibutsu. ^^

Video cameras don't work very well sideways.... :P

  • I saw a bamboo forest on the bus ride there. We didn't wander much in that area though, it was a little chilly out.

I had some other shots that I rotated in final cut, I should have done the same with that other one! I don't know what I was thinking filming like that in the first place. Ah well. If my videos didn't have a part fully lacking in quality then it wouldn't be a RisuMiso video!

  • nice footage looked like a lot of fun!

  • It was pretty neat!

  • Did you find the launch button?

  • It was behind glass and only for use during ゴジラ emergencies!

  • They really like pounding those bells in Japan ^^

Great video, the view from that thin window was really great. Appreciate youy showing all these adventures with us dude.

    "Look at the meat!"

  • We thought it was a keitai strap at first!

  • Hehe, nice. Some pretty serious youtubin'. I want to go and see it too..

  • It's not very far. I could maybe go again. It's pretty rad.

  • That is one darn big statue!

Extra points for the squirrels at the end :)

  • I wanted to make soup out of them!

  • nom nom...i'd like to help you eat that soup! hehe

  • I bet it wouldn't taste bad at all...

  • What else can you say besides thats really really tall! Its so hard to imagine it being that big from watching the video.

  • Yeah the video doesn't give the same feeling that's for sure! It's very impressive!

  • 2:00 the tree at the side

  • あの大仏に行きたいよ。

  • ぜひ行ってみてよ。

  • Now that's a tall statue!

  • Indeed!

  • What the heck! No way, that thing's so tall.

  • It puts the dai in daibutsu.

  • Dang, that statue was enormous! Had a great atmosphere it seemed -- You're the first J-vlogger I've seen to post of this place, so I'm gonna favorite the video.

  • It's only about 1 hour from Tokyo, so I'm also surprised that none of the other vloggers have made a video that I know of. There are lots of non-vlogging videos of it though.

It was pretty cool to see it, though it would have been better in the spring/summer when all the flowers were in bloom.

    Thanks for favorite!

  • wow that's Huge. I've been to Kamakura old capital and there is a statute in Nara but I've never had a chance to visit Ushiku. Maybe next time. Nice Video!

If you haven't been to Kamakura its a good place to see. kind a far away from Adachiku where I used to stay but it was a good chance

  • I've been to Kamakura before too. That buddha statue is also pretty cool even if it isn't as big! The one in Nara is neat as well.

The sheer size of this one amazed me.
