I know Master Lee and his teachers even met his teachers. Master Lee is a nice guy, I see him all the time, more when he was a driver. Doesnt mean I thought highly his demonstration.
He is not a 1st generaton Chan Hon Chung student. He will address Chan Hon Chung as si-gung.
Get your facts straight before getting hot over someones comments.
@howiegoin Read my reply properly I said Mr Lee was a student of Chan Hon Chung's first generation of STUDENTS, yes he would address Chan Hon Chung as Si-Gung (as would I!!), and according to my teacher Jim Uglow (also a student of Chan Hon Chung) Mr Lee FINISHED his training with Chan Si-Gung. And If I have to believe someone it would be my teacher over some faceless ARMCHAIR sifu who finds fault with any demonstration. When Mr Lee returns to our Kwoon I will let him see your opinions
@popsjnr Staff doesn't seem to be made of waxwood. Looks more like oak. Oak doesn't "taan" like waxwood. Plus the staff seems to be longer than the standard 7ft 2in used for practical application and martial drills. Probably meant more for power training so that it's better expressed through the waxwood types. So I agree that the staff looks a bit "dead" for lack of a better word, but only for the reasons I stated. It's also possible that, since it was a performance, he didn't go all out.
@SOVWD The length of pole in the Eight Diagram Pole, the form demonstrated, is 8 foot (or longer-we use a 9 foot pole at times), that's not what I'm bothered about it's that some nameless armchair sifu has the audacity to disrespect a true SiFu on a computer but not the guts to go say the same thing to that master, when they live in the same place and according to the nameless one, they even know each other?? Where's the martial-ness in that??
@howiegoin Mr Lee Yun Fook is a student of Chan Hon Chung's first generation of students, who finished his training with Chan Si-Gung, I have trained with Mr Lee learning this very pole form and I can attest his pole form is excellent, as you are supposed to be a MARTIAL ARTIST yourself why dont you stop bitching and CHALLENGE all these teachers and performers you are forever denigrating, you COWARDLY keyboard punching idiot
