Pretty forgettable compared to her previous videos. She's so outlandish, I'd have though they would have attempted to do this with live action, instead of the ridiculously common route they chose of CG. People arent impressed anymore, even when it's world-class CG work. But this same basic concept done with miniatures and low-tech methods, would have been memorable. This, will be gone by lunchtime. At least some of the elements were indeed real. But the CG backgrounds are lame.
@Jericho93py Quién dijo que es bueno porque fue trabajoso. Yo no dije eso. I love how, in this hi-tech age with it's proliferation of super-shiny CGI, a team of crafts-persons worked so hard to produce some amazing results. Maybe many hands make light work, but in this case, they also make magic. It's such a wonderful video with a real sense of freedom and adventure, thus capturing the spirit of the song perfectly. The word "fantastic" springs to mind, in both senses.
definitely my favorite bjork song and video, altho i really love them all. But this in particular has so much to say not only in its lyrics but also in the symbols within the video. Very well done.
definitely my favorite bjork song and video, altho i really love them. But this in particular has so much to say not only in its lyrics but also in the symbols within the video. Very well done.
Bjork could make a feature film (musical) simply stringing together many/all of her most creative videos (adding a little footage like this from each production clip) and a bit of fodder. It would be an EPIC cult film.
This video has to be inspired by some Icelandic folklore something. The scenery is so Icelandic
@kevinpuja lol...the farm animals (and small hills) in Iceland all resemble yaks. Perhaps you've not been to Iceland, as you wouldn't have been confused by my comment. Iceland is otherworldly in a way that far exceeds the diversity of the (breathtaking) rural lands of Japan. Some of the traditional housing in Iceland resemble your 'Mongolian' hat. Perhaps Asia is her inspiration, but the scenery & feel is STRIKINGLY Icelandic and variations of the hat are unique to peoples worldwide. ;-D
Love your work! I have your video featured on my channel, VideoDanceTV. Feel free to talk about your work on my channel--or share comments to show support to other amazing artists.
Amazed! When I saw the video for the first time, I found it so oniric! The song is definitely awesome too. I wonder how some artist come up with such brilliant visual ideas. For me, Björk stays in the lead.
I don't get it..many people find the song and video scary in a good way, but the song and video doesn't scare me at all.
And yet for some reason, watching how the video is MADE along with the instrumental version of Wanderlust playing in the background really scares me..in a good way, of course.
But wow... I don't get it! Still love Bjork though <3
I love this song and video. It always comes on in the wee hours of the morning and I love watching, it is so visually stunning but I love the song also.
bloody hell, i really respect the makers of this video! it looks fantastic and the concept is amazing as well. really really wonderful I am so glad this video was created. wonder who directed it..
I actually went to school with one of the makers of this video. I don't know who it is exactly, lol. But my friend's art teacher was saying that they went to the same highschool before they went to the college that taught them how to do all this designing.
Oh not only that, design, CG, colourist, cutter editors, sound mixing. make artists, wardrobe designer, storyboard artists, chroma key painters location of that huge ass set, colour lighting, director, vx supervisor, stereocopic material. and a whole nother 15 people.Bjork is the last person they needed in the video.I can tell they spent a good 500 000 USD on this video ALONE.
Bintah its 500 thousands.but then they have to pay at least15 ppl on top of it and the fees are high as hell. so the sum will be doubled and this only if their budget is tight.
Binta you have the exact same name as one my close relatives.
Bjoerk's videos are always something of an art.I didn't even need to like the songs to enjoy her vids
@cannoir thanks for the info, but .5 mil meant 1/2 million. I too can watch Björk's work without loving every single song. In fact, I'll finish watching the Drawing Restraint 9 film today -Fascinating. If you have a family member, with my same name, and it is a true name. Then your family can originate from only one place, in one location on this planet. Itan, I kilixi minde? So on that note, Inuwali.
gotta love bjork and gotta respect the team that worked so hard to achieve something truly unique and ground-breaking when so many music videos out there just show some woman with flying hair and bouncy cleavage lip-synching to some other tune that sounds like any other tune. well done to the production team!
holy shit, i thought those things where miniatures! i can't believe they sculpted them fullsize! wow. this is absolutely awesome! i love this video, thank you
I wish i had not have watched this. Its a bit like when Blade Runner-The Final Cut came out. I watched the making of it and after all those years of loving the movie ( still do ) it took a lot of the magic away because knowing how it was done took away that mystery. Not knowing how this video was done, and not knowing that there are people beneath those costumes .etc.. makes the experience 10 times greater. Now when i watch video from Bjork, i won't be as amazed by it or captivated.
@blade004 While I very much appreciate her work and will continue to watch it, I do understand what you're saying. Even though the animals were [obviously] fake, they seemed very real. Caring. Understanding. As they were in fact alive.
THIS IS AWESOME!!! I totally cannot wait to see this video! It's one of my favorite songs from her album and so far from what I can see, it reminds me a little bit of Princess Mononoke! Also I would love to do that kind of thing for a living, the creature effects!
@gab3334 I think Michael Jackson can, it's just different. I don't mean to compare their styles at all. I just think that they are very uniquely talented.
i was actually a small part of this, i helped put the hair on the yak and do some of the clay sculpting and landscape painting and foam carving. it was fun, hot but at least i got to see Bjork during the filming. she was quite a trooper acting in an all felt costume in 90 degree heat with only a few fans to cool off.
