I can't remember my new years resolutions. I think my mind blocked them out because I failed them so epically. You seem like a Jon Green fan. As soon as I saw your first vid I could smell it.
My New Year's resolution is to finish one book a month, as it was last year. I kept it, and have thus far for this year. I need to read The Fault in Our Stars, and will once I finish one of the three other books I have started....
Just got The Fault In Our Stars yesterday. I finished reading it that day also. Geez it was so amazing! You were right about the laugh to cry ratio!! I was all like hahahahaha *sob sob*
if you want a different take on Pride & Prejudice, and want a bit of a giggle, I suggest you try this: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (I can't put the link here)
Just realised most of my resolutions are about mastering things most small children can do, I am learning to hula hoop, cartwheel and do the splits... So far the hula hooping is going well, cant say I've started on the others...
It's a well known fact that French are not really good in English (especially because we are lazy and kinda stupid) so it would be difficult for me to make you become famous in a country where you are not understand the way you should. Although, I would be thrilled to welcome you in France ! (coz, seriously, you rock)
So come visit the country of bread, and art, and... well whatever, as long as you enjoy your trip ;)
I remember you mentioned you were coming to New York in February--if you specify, maybe I'll see you then! (I wish I did, but I don't live anywhere near Europe.)
your laughter to crying segue is exactly how i started sobbing for the second half of the book. except i was louder and there were a lot more tears involved.
I win im on my fifth book of this year ... granted its only because i bought all of John Greens books when i bought the fault in our stars (which was the first one i read and it was amazing)
I will learn something new every day this year... Today: After three failures (that involved getting meatballs on my appartment floor) I am now the master of flipping food around in the air while frying it in a HUGE frying pan!
My new motto is "May is the month", an expression of hope to finally graduate. Like every year the goal is to develop study habits (a little late for that)... but as you, science gets in the way.
Every new video I see on my homepage from you is like a treasure. You shouldn't worry about making videos in a timely manner - I'll love you anyway. :)
I just watched your viedo from April 2010 where vidstats predicted you would have 7000 viwers by February 2013, so congratulations on the 65,083 in 2012 :D My new year's resolution is to read more too, and I've been putting it off but your video has inspired me to get back into it. If you came to England I would love to meet you, and don't miss the opportunity to meet Charlie! Thanks for making a bad week a bit better with your videos :)
Ahhhhh one of my friends was telling me about Death Comes to Pemberly!! Now I definitely have to get it. I LOVE Pride & Prejudice and must read it IMMEDIATELY...after I finish The Fault in Our Stars :o)
I gotta say... that was pretty clever. If someone had asked me, I'd have just said "Cake science..." Although normally I tend to use the excuse of "quality control" when snacking on stuff at work. It's important to make sure the food is safe for the customer!!
while you're abroad you should try and do a video with charlie mcdonnell............because you're both amazing........so two times the amazing..........equals MIND BLOWING AMAZINGNESSSS
All my crying was done near the end, but there was a lot of it then. That's the thing about cancer. Sometimes it blind sides you (The previous joke was brought to you by Isaac. Isaac: Monica is no good for you)
Ahh! You're coming to Europe! Please tell me you're going to visit Becky. If she's still in London when you do come, you have to visit me in Cardiff. In fact you should come see me anyway. Our couch is comfy. And we have castles. Lots of castles. -Z
I JUST READ BOTH TFIOS AND DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY. Like, those are the two main books I've read so far this year. Before I saw this video. And they were both. So. Good.
I've seen the new Pride and Prejudice movie over 84 times (yes, I've been keeping count). Though it's not nearly as much like the book as the BBC version, It's artistically incredible and so well done.
Going out of the country is so spiffy. I've been to Japan and it was incredibly life-changing. I wonder what Charlie's reaction will be when he sees this video and realizes he'll get to finally meet you in person.
I was laughing one minute and then crying, and then the girls sitting across from me on the bus stared at me... needless to say, not a very good book to read in public. xD
My resolution was to stop being mad at people for not liking food. I like most normal foods, and it drives me crazy when I say something like, 'You want this chicken?' and they reply, 'oh sorry I don't like dark meat,' or, 'I made some apple pie' and I get 'sorry I don't like apples.' Huge pet peeve. But really silly, too.
@ohsothomas I have been wanting some kind of pastry for several days (apparently I'm too lazy to do anything about it despite having all the ingredients and probably even a couple of mixes) and this video only makes it worse.
I made a resolution to write one page about whatever I did that day for the entire year. So far I haven't missed any. I labeled it 365 journal 2012. That way at the end of the year I will be able to look back at everything I did and really reflect on it.
My NYR is to pick up litter. I mostly pick up what I find on my walk to the car in the morning. In order to keep myself interested and feeling like I'm making some difference, I'm tracking the trash on twitter. If other people wanted to pick up litter and tweet it at me (@ecoenvious), I would not have a problem with that.
oh my gosh I love your videos!!! My new year's resolutions are to get a boyfriend, become a famous singer, and my 3rd 1 is to get more friends on Youtube! So I hope you see this and check out my videos and I hope we can be friends! :)
Read the Fault in Our Stars as well...At one point I had to run out and stop for tissues, but I still regret the reading pause. IT WAS SOO GOOD!!! I didn't think I was capable of crying that hard.
What I mean about Elmify is that she is friends, personal friends, with the HermanosVlog. Now Kristina might also be, I dont know, but I dont see Kristina's channel recommended on the Vlogbrother's channel page.
Junior school Elmify looked a little bit like The Beast for a moment there, with the hair comment. I also recently read Death Comes to Pemberly. Admittedly I thought it would be much more Who-Dun-It then a court trial situation. So in that way, it disappointed me a bit.
My new years resolution: be more of a Hufflepuf, i.e. be nice to people, don't freak out over the little things, do things with people... And eat healthier. In the last months of 2011 it was disgusting what I ate per week. You don't have to eat a whole package of cookies AND a bar of chocolate in the same evening, certainly not thrice a week. So now I'm trying to buy/eat all the taste healthy things so my craving for candy decreases. I hope it'll work. Thus far I'm fine but it's not easy.
Ooh ooh! Pick me, pick me! I'm abroad! If you are ever in Jerusalem, let me know :) We have lots of hummus and um... ancient things! It's very cultural!
If you want some amazing books, Fireball by Tyler Keevil and Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close by Jonathan Safran Foer are honestly two of the best books I've ever read (though both have that same 1:1 cry:laugh ratio)
If you come to europe, COME TO EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND. I will come see you :3 you will love it it's the capital city and it's really old and it has a castle on top of the hill and tiny streets, it's like some place you hear about in narnia :)
One of mine is to read more too. I already read Mockingjay and TFiOS. It was pretty great. I'm aiming for 30 books in 2012 and I'll definitely add Death Comes to Pemberley to the list.
EUROPE! Yay! I'd say we're the best continent in the world, good choice. If you're coming to Ireland and you need a bed for a night or two and someone to show you all the classic tourist attractions/ hidden gems feel free to drop me a channel comment/ message or something :D
@elmify oh and sorry you missed my happy dance upon seeing your reply to my comment :D :D but then again, its probably a good thing i got spared the embarrassment :P
@elmify first off, let me just fangirl for a moment because of you replying to my comment. *OHMYGAWDITSELMIFYREPLYINGTOMYCOMMENT!THATISSOCOOL!IKNOWSHEDIDREPLYTOALOTOFOTHERSBUTSTILLTHISISSOCOOL!!!!!!11222!4R345T84597!* *happydance!*
now, follow up comment.
i love how upfront you are about your fangirlyness for charlie.
I didn't make any resolutions this year... UNTIL NOW: meet elmify in person. I'm 15 so the chances of me travelling to America any time soon are pretty slim but YOU could come to Ireland and host a gathering and we could both fulfill our resolutions!!!
...
That all sounds rather creepy once I've read over it.
My one was to see the family more, sorta worked so far well ok i havent seen them any more then i would have but i am planning to see my big sis soon so sorta half going strong haha
@elmify I'll bake you any cookie you like, promise! Amsterdam looks great in spring and summer! Just tell us in time, when en where you are coming. Because when John Green came to Amsterdam he only visited one bookstore there and I hadn't heard. :( My laugh to cry ration was 0 : 1
I'm going to read more books too! Last year I aimed for 52 books, which didn't work out (I got 27 read i think) I'm roughly on track again this year (only 3 days behind) and TFiOS is definitely the next on the list.
As for europe... Come to Scotland!!! We can take you over the "Harry Potter Bridge" and feed you Haggis!
@KittehKatFTW That's so incredibly awesome! I could afford to be a little more like that. Good luck with it again this year! I hope more crazy fun experiences abound! :D
@x3Law Great resolutions! And I was worried about the same thing-- but it's a very faithful sequel, and just happens to include a spot of mystery! I haven't read any other sequels like that... but I really enjoyed it! :D
@elmify I've started this thing where I have to summarise my day into whatever fits in the box. This is normally about 10-15 words. Today will be "Bought complete works of S. Holmes, Statistics exam was fine, talked to Elmify." :D
I am "you"! Come to Bavaria or Vienna and i'll show you some culinary treasuries!

One of mine is to read more too. I already read Mockingjay and TFiOS. It was pretty great. I'm aiming for 30 books in 2012 and I'll definitely add Death Comes to Pemberley to the list.

Now when I watch your videos all I can think is, I met her, and she's super super awesome. This is Jacob from French the Podcast by the way.
I've resolved to stop resolving to do things.

EUROPE! Yay! I'd say we're the best continent in the world, good choice. If you're coming to Ireland and you need a bed for a night or two and someone to show you all the classic tourist attractions/ hidden gems feel free to drop me a channel comment/ message or something :D

Read 4 books so far this year.
Been to Europe twice.
Hosted several Youtube Gatherings.
I think I'll just stick to "science" for this year.
