Well, You can't screw kick open the doors on the GC version but you can reach the contents of the safe if it is a ring box.

It's not a character upgrade but a builtin, albeit an obscure one. Spin the stick until you get the B icon to pop up in the top right, then press B like it says.

hey does doing a screw attack really open a safe without digging through it? I saw someone use that on Egg Quarters where you get the pick nails on the metal boxes.

The thing about the out-of total is that it's simply a hardcoded number that the designers were supposed to choose based on the ring count of the level, but may or may not actually have any relation to it. I can't definitively say which 6 they overlooked, but on GC it's /229 with no rings changed, so it might be the 7 Treasure Scope rings in yellow C.

Try ignoring the time limit. That's what I do.

All you need to do to get all of the chaos emeralds in 3:30. If you use hints, they can assist you and you may pass the level.

Omochao isn't affected by the fans. It goes straight through them, and as soon as it leaves draw distance, it reappears in its original location.

Because I obviously can't do a Screw Kick while holding Omochao. "Throw" trumps all other B actions.

That only works for Dreamcast players. Some objects have been marked "Screw-Kick-proof", but the safes (and items in those safes) only have that bit set in SA2:B, not SA2.

Typically, after I get to 166, there's no danger at all of losing rings. Dodging the lasers can be tough, as on the setup I'm currently using, half the lasers aren't visible at all. But once I get done with the yellow floor, the only danger is running out of time--and that has happened on many attempts.
