@Damalycus because a police baton, although officers are trained to hit soft tissue to subdue, is more likely to accidently hit a lethal spot by accident. A tazer is much MUCH less likely to do that. A baton hit to the head, groin, etc. is considered lethal force.

Two, While it is true Dateline is capitilizing on this, this is not something that is done by dateline. This bait and catch routine happens all the time all around the country. The "Entertainment Industry" does capitilise upon it, but by no means are they the ones running the sting operations.
