...If you asked ten people on the street, it is very likely that none of them had ever even heard his name. Jaco is a rather obscure name for most people despite his innovations. Which makes that argument of yours not valid.
...force in the development of his instrument that barely a handful of other bassists can stand next to him. And for this achievement he is( contrary to what you said with your first comment on the other video) actually FAR from being the bassist most people refer to as a bass"god". Outside of jazz and fusion circles Jaco is far less known than for example bassists in the rock/pop/metal genre......see part 4
...I merely pointed out the time period when he started to expand on these things(which is earlier than many people seem to be aware of) and form his style! So no, I do not "put all my eggs in one basket"! Correct me if I'm wrong, but both of your posts seem to indicate a certain amount of anger towards Jaco. Well, regardless of how much you try to diminsh his stature among bassists and musicians in general, the fact remains that he was such a monumental......see part 3
Honestly, I don't know what I've done to make you write such an intense comment. You clearly misunderstood what I said with my previous three comments( the ones I decided to delete) Not anywhere have I stated that there aren't other historically great and important bass players. I also did NOT say that he was first one to use harmonics or that he "discovered" them. And I know damn well that he was not the first bassist to play solos or even play fretless....see part 2
@Musicenthusiasm Roger, roger copy ,)) here in Mx receiving Patus*Meth's wavelenghts , jolly great! Emitting now PMG's grateful sounds from sunny baby blue skies rather smooth today on this Sat.7th, 2012 ;)
