This is truly miraculous. Because science says that when listening or watching another human being in pain or express pain, the brain ought to react with similar emotions - feel the pain vicariously. If Eckhart is unable to do that then it must mean there has been a real transformation in the way he sees the passing forms.
If i get stuck around people who are obsessed with their drama ..they wear me out .. they force you to go along with it .. I find they dont let you stay calm.
I understand empathy and compassion is a need to support others who grieve. A genuine smile to show your feelings toward the other at that present moment is a gesture of love and connection.

He can't help smiling when people tell him they are suffering?? Where is the 'awareness'; the mindfulness?? Where is the empathy and compassion? My father is dieing. I feel inner truths in so much of what he sais and has writen. I just don't understand this video though. It sounds so uncaring.

Your explaination, is very flawed.... But, I'm sure it gives you comfort. If Jesus, lived sinless life, then, he probably never had a human 'existence'. The now is not what happens, it is the timeless dimension in which everything happens. Its not content, it is the formless. When you are in touch with that dimension, whatever happens in the world does not affect your inner state. You feel a space around what happens. But the main reason people are so identified with their mind is because most people don't have a pain body that is active and attacks them constantly with negative thinking. It is more dormant than active, or about the same.
A pain body is nothing more than triggered states of being. They're conditioned responses to experience. When you're in the now, and you're aware, you begin to recognize when you're being triggered into a conditioned state of being. Most people are walking around in conditioned trance states of being. It doesn't have to be this way. The solution requires you take responsibility for your thinking and subsequent states of being generated by your thoughts. Now is the place where it all happens.

Time exists so we can notice progress. It's normal for you to notice evolution, just like aging. He isn't talking about stopping time, he's just talking about accepting the present moment and dealing with whatever it brings, because it is always "now", never "tomorrow" or "next week".Moments change their names, but each of them is actually "now", so that's where you should always be focusing your attention;)

Yes you are absolutely correct when in comes to man-made religion I totally agree. But don't through the truth of Christ and God out with the religious bath water. What I do not like hearing about Eckhart Tolle is how spiritual he is. Most of the replies I get are just character assasination against me when no one has given me a valid reason why Eckhart Tolle is so "spiritual". I hear things like "He's spreading peace around the world, thats why he's right, and you have to belive what I say". Give me a moral or ethical statement or action that cannot be made by an Eckhart Tolle beliver and I will bow down, and be willing to grant you are right.

And these my experiences make me respect suffering people, and it clearly doesnt justify me judging suffering people as caught in illusions and laughing at them in the same time.
Well, sorry but I just disagree. I don't think he is laughing at them. In a way he is smiling as if to point out that they should put their troubles into perspective, to distance themselves from them. In a sense that is a cure. I really don't understand after listening to his lectures how you can assume that it is all just theory? To me, inuitively, he is connected to another profound level and is coming from within himself rather than from outside conventional reading. It's your view, fine.
And yes I actually think, that Tolle is not high on "what is", but is high on a not very convincing "spiritually" convention, which unfortunately is rooted ind an old allegorical language, not connecting to authenticity or real felt and exsperienced life.
A real braveheart meet people, and also people, who are suffering in an open, respectful way. He is not denying or ridiculing their feelings, he tries to meet and understand, before he makes judgemental comments.
Do you know anything about mysticism or spiritual transformation? Tolle is not conventional at all. I don't think you really understand anything about mystical experience. You should read the book by Dr. Maurice Bucke "Cosmic Consciousness". Tolle is not just any ordinary man who just lectures, thinks, and converses on the objective level. He communicates from his soul and not from his objective mind. He is someone who has had a real mental and spiritual transformationand.
Don' t forget that Tolle is a person who once wanted to commit suicide, and then had a sudden transformation not only psychological but also spiritual. Nothing in the world can hurt him anymore. He is what people who study mysticism, meditation etc hope to achieve in reality. He is the embodiment of all the teachings of all spiritual teachers put into practice. It is what Jesus and others promised to man, that he should know God and be at one with God, The Absolute or the Cosmic.
Yes it is the story, he has told. But it might be just words.
For me he sounds like a parrot, not even trying to put his old bad wine on new bottles. And there is no more spirit in this wine at all.

I am an arttherapist. I don´t think you need have a white coat on to sense a disdain for the history and feeling of fellow human beings. If you want a psycological explanation for this: call it denial, repression, dissociation and narcissisme. But tell, transform and recreate your personal painful story into a story, you can hold and live. Discern destructive and constructive voices in this proces. Compassion and love is crucial component.
someone once said, the human mind always accomplish to do 2 impossible tasks. and the mind will always fail.
one is to re-format the past into something it likes. the other is to establish the future.
i think tolle's message is to stay more in the present ; learn from the past when needed and plan for the future when needed. and return back to the present.
Imagine, a person telling a story about being sexual abused as a child, or imagine a former prisoner of a concentrationcamp telling her story, or imagine a person who has lost his or her beloved ones in the twin towers, the eleventh of october, or imagine a person telling af story about being raped in the civil war of the former Jugoslavia, or imagine.....And then this smiling, this talking about illusions.......Who is the one making illusions who is the one dellusioning himself.
Tolle's point is that your painful story is in the past, and while it may affect you today, it does not have to. In the present moment you don't have to hold on to the pain of the past. You can have peace right NOW.
For a person who has been raped or tortured in a prison camp, how you help this person? it would take time to help this person. eventually, when the person begins to slowly spend more focus on the things happening in the present, the person will slowly recover and slowly let go of the past. it will take time. different people heal at different speed. i think tolle message is that we can heal faster if we try to focus more on the present
Read my reply to haldor72 below. Might be, it is Tolles message healing faster focusing on the now, but he is jumping to the conclusions hurting people. And by this he demonstrates clearly, that he has nothing on. Try to be a child anew, and listen to his speech again with fresh and open intuition. Also notice the nervous laughter of the audience, trying to go with somebody bullying, repressing their own feelings. This is hurting.
it is better to find oneself. Through your understanding your friends will find a path of new consciousness if they really know you. If anything you will be able to bring a more positive outlook to your friends lives.
This is what scares me! Say I start living with the consciousness that Eckhart is talking about, all my friends that I love (but that are not interested in awakening) will slip away from me because I will be acting weird through their eyes. And I don't want to hear that: Then there not friends worth your time, because they are Amazing beautiful people.
Plan and project...no problem but be aware of the reality NOW ..even whilst planning ahead. If your now moment has plans arising in it then that's wonderful!
You just observe the planning and the problems -- they continue as is. Isn't your mind already trained and conditioned to work as a tool for doing that already?. See?
You see the mind worry about being able to handle future problems. That is enlightening.
There is a deep intelligence within you far more wise than mind. With acceptance and trust, that emerges/unfolds.

I really sympathize with you. He has nothing on, I am afraid, and it worries me, that this kind of thinking make an impact on real people with real feelings and real connections.

As you start living in the present, all you'll care about is the now, which will fill you with everything good, thus you will have no need in "friends" evaluation/esteem.
This is, I think, the main "block" we have towards losing our egos.
Maybe what happens is that the need to appease people disappears...and one's true nature takes its place. I don't think Eckhart Tolle or Adyashanti have lost their personalities - they both seem to have fun on stage and enjoy telling jokes. But certainly that part about being "seen" by other people will disappear - and this may lead to a shift from "fake" friends to real friends. I certainly hope I don't become devoid of any personality...I imagine it would kind of suck.
It's not just that it's appreciating reality better. Most people can't so they day-dream and virtually "blur" moments in their lifes witch seems pointless/painful (could even be standing in line).
What Tolle is talking about is reaching a state where you can purposely use your mind for a specific task, nothing more but just enjoy your being.
I suggest you take his book as you will have better understanding.

Yeah it does make perfect sense doesn't it? Only we can change ourselves after all, we can all be convinced and put through interventions to change our ways, whether those are the methods or not to change somebody's habits, it's always up to us to decide when to shine light over our own darkness.
That's right. Nobody's right, only God is. And I AM a sinner, and darkness WILL continue to influence my life, it will never be overcome except only during certain instances that I do tap into my inner savior (consciousness) which I will put my best efforts into making my overall state of mind through life.
We don't NEED a savior per se. Jesus is an archetype as to how peaceful human beings should act. It's people like you who make it seem like humans themselves are not capable of the insightful peacefulness Jesus once shared millenia ago.
don't bring me down to your level. You're a living contradiction of your own religion's beliefs. Hence you keep coming back to contribute to the conflict. I will admit part of me is liking this to find fault in you. Until you can admit that you're on an egotrip of trying to be right, you and I will never know true universal divinity unless we agree to disagree. We can keep an arguing, but you've just hit bottom and have nothing better to say this point on.

This is truly miraculous. Because science says that when listening or watching another human being in pain or express pain, the brain ought to react with similar emotions - feel the pain vicariously. If Eckhart is unable to do that then it must mean there has been a real transformation in the way he sees the passing forms.

DRAMA. It's as powerful a word as it is an emotion. I see many people hooked on their own personal dramas because they actually prefer to live in emotional pain, therefore, feeding their ego. The now is not what happens, it is the timeless dimension in which everything happens. Its not content, it is the formless. When you are in touch with that dimension, whatever happens in the world does not affect your inner state. You feel a space around what happens. But the main reason people are so identified with their mind is because most people don't have a pain body that is active and attacks them constantly with negative thinking. It is more dormant than active, or about the same.

When you're in the now, and you're aware, you begin to recognize when you're being triggered into a conditioned state of being. Most people are walking around in conditioned trance states of being. Time exists so we can notice progress. It's normal for you to notice evolution, just like aging. He isn't talking about stopping time, he's just talking about accepting the present moment and dealing with whatever it brings, because it is always "now", never "tomorrow" or "next week".Moments change their names, but each of them is actually "now", so that's where you should always be focusing your attention;)

As for the others they all were enlightened to a form of consciousness of God through it's interaction with there finite soul that must become eternal through Christ or will perish. 134being - I think Eckhart Tolle MAY have left out a few actual TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE! Scripture tells us Jesus came to bring us LIFE! And when we followed Him, we could have it MORE abundantly. He also told us. That our choice is believing in His Eternal promises was, for the NOW and for the FUTURE. The difference was believing in the resurrection instead of reincarnation. Which is a false doctrine. That's why I am reconsidering this false teacher's message. It mimics Scripture but is not the Truth

What I do not like hearing about Eckhart Tolle is how spiritual he is. Most of the replies I get are just character assasination against me when no one has given me a valid reason why Eckhart Tolle is so "spiritual". I hear things like "He's spreading peace around the world, thats why he's right, and you have to belive what I say". Give me a moral or ethical statement or action that cannot be made by an Eckhart Tolle beliver and I will bow down, and be willing to grant you are right.

And why I admire and respect him is because he is the one person who is able to point out in modern language and to modern society the actual problems of our sick society. The only cure for society today is for individuals to be more consciously aware of the real dillema that they create within themselves. And he demands our respect because he truly is one who has experienced real spiritual illumination and he is showing us the way. He is not just some psychotherapist who has read books.

And you obviously doubt that he is an authentic person, by which I mean that this is one person who really is expressing his soul nature and not from the egoic self. Like Tolle says he does. But does he demonstrate it? That is the crucial question. Or is he sitting in the tower of the Tarot card, because then...Ups!
And these my experiences make me respect suffering people, and it clearly doesnt justify me judging suffering people as caught in illusions and laughing at them in the same time.

Well, sorry but I just disagree. I don't think he is laughing at them. In a way he is smiling as if to point out that they should put their troubles into perspective, to distance themselves from them. In a sense that is a cure. I really don't understand after listening to his lectures how you can assume that it is all just theory? To me, inuitively, he is connected to another profound level and is coming from within himself rather than from outside conventional reading. It's your view, fine.

And yes I actually think, that Tolle is not high on "what is", but is high on a not very convincing "spiritually" convention, which unfortunately is rooted ind an old allegorical language, not connecting to authenticity or real felt and exsperienced life.
A real braveheart meet people, and also people, who are suffering in an open, respectful way. He is not denying or ridiculing their feelings, he tries to meet and understand, before he makes judgemental comments.

Do you know anything about mysticism or spiritual transformation? Tolle is not conventional at all. I don't think you really understand anything about mystical experience. You should read the book by Dr. Maurice Bucke "Cosmic Consciousness". Tolle is not just any ordinary man who just lectures, thinks, and converses on the objective level. He communicates from his soul and not from his objective mind. He is someone who has had a real mental and spiritual transformationand.

Don' t forget that Tolle is a person who once wanted to commit suicide, and then had a sudden transformation not only psychological but also spiritual. Nothing in the world can hurt him anymore. He is what people who study mysticism, meditation etc hope to achieve in reality. He is the embodiment of all the teachings of all spiritual teachers put into practice. It is what Jesus and others promised to man, that he should know God and be at one with God, The Absolute or the Cosmic.

For me he sounds like a parrot, not even trying to put his old bad wine on new bottles. And there is no more spirit in this wine at all.
I have seen the other videos too, all self referential language with no content. It is all form. His here and now is without any compassion, without truth, passion, love.

I am an arttherapist. I don´t think you need have a white coat on to sense a disdain for the history and feeling of fellow human beings. If you want a psycological explanation for this: call it denial, repression, dissociation and narcissisme. But tell, transform and recreate your personal painful story into a story, you can hold and live. Discern destructive and constructive voices in this proces. Compassion and love is crucial component.

one is to re-format the past into something it likes. the other is to establish the future.
i think tolle's message is to stay more in the present ; learn from the past when needed and plan for the future when needed. and return back to the present.

Tolle's point is that your painful story is in the past, and while it may affect you today, it does not have to. In the present moment you don't have to hold on to the pain of the past. You can have peace right NOW.

For a person who has been raped or tortured in a prison camp, how you help this person? it would take time to help this person. eventually, when the person begins to slowly spend more focus on the things happening in the present, the person will slowly recover and slowly let go of the past. it will take time. different people heal at different speed. i think tolle message is that we can heal faster if we try to focus more on the present

Read my reply to haldor72 below. Might be, it is Tolles message healing faster focusing on the now, but he is jumping to the conclusions hurting people. And by this he demonstrates clearly, that he has nothing on. Try to be a child anew, and listen to his speech again with fresh and open intuition. Also notice the nervous laughter of the audience, trying to go with somebody bullying, repressing their own feelings. This is hurting.

This is what scares me! Say I start living with the consciousness that Eckhart is talking about, all my friends that I love (but that are not interested in awakening) will slip away from me because I will be acting weird through their eyes. And I don't want to hear that: Then there not friends worth your time, because they are Amazing beautiful people.

You are probably feeling a herd-mentality mechanism that you project in the mind from the past to the future.
Now, why would you assume anything about how being in the present at all? Because you are focused on results, not being.
Let's just say you have no idea of how this would turn out. Don't you realize that being intensely present may be a risk, but is peace, love, joy?

Maybe what happens is that the need to appease people disappears...and one's true nature takes its place. I don't think Eckhart Tolle or Adyashanti have lost their personalities - they both seem to have fun on stage and enjoy telling jokes. But certainly that part about being "seen" by other people will disappear - and this may lead to a shift from "fake" friends to real friends. I certainly hope I don't become devoid of any personality...I imagine it would kind of suck.

It's not just that it's appreciating reality better. Most people can't so they day-dream and virtually "blur" moments in their lifes witch seems pointless/painful (could even be standing in line).
What Tolle is talking about is reaching a state where you can purposely use your mind for a specific task, nothing more but just enjoy your being.
I suggest you take his book as you will have better understanding.

Yeah it does make perfect sense doesn't it? Only we can change ourselves after all, we can all be convinced and put through interventions to change our ways, whether those are the methods or not to change somebody's habits, it's always up to us to decide when to shine light over our own darkness.
