I realized recently that the guy's name, Zato-1, is a reference to the blind samurai known as "Zatoichi". "Ichi" is Japanese for "One".

Zato officialy died after GGX not the first GG. The reason for killing Zato's character was because his voice actor died. They decided the kill off Zato and "replace" him, so to speak, with Eddie
