The only thing the XF-103 didnt have in its favor was technology, most notably problems with titanium construction and the anemic J-67 engine. If Republic Aviation had been able to iron those issues out this airplane would have most likely been the premier interceptor for the US Air Force especially with its blistering mach 3 performance!
Yeh, it would have been great!! But it could only achieve mach 3 for a couple of seconds otherwise the blades on the turbines would melt o_0
