Metro Gold Line Trains Test Service to East Los Angeles

The east LA gold line sucks. why would they extend the gold line of all things east? I know it's "cheaper to build" but they should have just built the red line east either below grade or elevated. Rather than sloppily pasting the gold line EAST after building it SOUTH WEST to Los angeles.

What are you talking about? The rail system serving SF is Muni Metro, which is a TROLLEY system.

LA has two heavy rail lines, those being the Red and Purple Lines.

To answer your question, LA isn't building more heavy rail because light rail offers more cost-effective alternatives that meet the strict funding guidelines set forth by the FTA.

BART was built in the 1960s, long before light rail was discovered. And it was much cheaper to build heavy rail back then.

@socalivy well i would still like to see LA build a train that would at least get priority at intersections,so they would not have to be stopping at red lights,to me that just reminds to much of riding a bus.

Well, there are plans to extend the heavy rail Purple Line to West LA. Honestly, the only part of the system where lack of signal priority severely slows down the line is the Blue Line through Long Beach.
