I have been in accident 2 months ago. This car was going way too fast in a curve and lost control and hit my semi Truck. No one stopped to offer help or as a witness. I stopped many times before to help people. Nways because of no witness i am having to fight for recovery of damages in court. Not my fault and i can prove it.

Think about it this way, one day you will need someone to stop for you and no one will stop, what a cold feeling is that, u will find out.

But when in controlled areas where cars can pull out, people can step into the street, schools, etc, I have no right to harm someone else. I am AMAZED people will pass in a school zone +20mph. you should have electric trailer brakes in which case you engage them but do not engage car brakes, and trailer will stop swaying. I have had this happen to me, it is the case of not enough tongue weight on the trailer

Best thing to do the moment it starts fish-tailing is to activate the trailer brakes only gently and accelerate gently until you can gain control of the sway. Likely causes of this could be a tire failure or failed bearing on the trailer.

This is why the DOT wants to pass a new law- If you are towing a trailer over 3,500lb,than you must go through a special lic. course on safe operations. Just think, harry homeowner buys a 40ft long by 10ft wide motorhome and then decides to tow his 18ft motercycle trailer behind it. This is the same guy that thinks he is a "trucker" and will drive 20mph over the speed limit while on the phone or trying to operate his GPS. once trailers or caravans start swinging that bad its so hard to save them. sometimes if you are towing them with a Really powerful car then, flooring the accelerator can cause the trailer to snap back into line but it doesn't always work. an SUV like that wouldn't be able to accelerate quickly enough to do it in that case. just hope they were ok

depends on where you are. anyone can help, as you are protected by the good samaritan law. EMS and fire personnel fall under different categories. I myself do not have to stop to help, however if i do, i must stay with anyone that is hurt until help arrives. if i leave, i can be charged with abandonment because once i start giving aid, they are my responsibility. Again though, anyone can stop to help, first aid certified or not, because you are protected by the good samaritan law.
