  • Wow, lots of drug comments here for a clip of three awesome musicians just messing around and still producing heartfelt, memorable music. For the record, lots and lots of coke at the Last Waltz, including a "coke room" for Scorcese and the musicians, and at times in their careers Rick, Richard and Levon all were fucked up on coke and heroin....so don't be naive enough to think they weren't. They made some of the best music ever written by anyone, anywhere...so give 'em a break...

  • That is what I call inventing NEW music. It have to be improvised!

  • yeah its the best cause its what youre watching right now. the whole movie is brilliant.

  • darn, danko and his fiddle is all that i need!

  • What kind of awesome hat is Rick Danko wearing?

  • Ah it's not like it used to be. Boy thats the truth today.

  • Now that's what I call TALENT.....American Idol take note.

  • @Twilight37 I can't agree more , my favorite part of this movie, And its one of the best Music movies out there.

  • brilliant! just brought down the old guitar off the wall to figure this one out!

  • Even God can't keep from tapping His foot to this one.

  • i love it.good old country music

  • I wish they had recorded a version of this.

  • old time religion, for the folks

  • They were higher then a cat's back...but DAMN that was good!

  • Now, that's real music!!

Jesus! my hairs stood on end!

    Thank U!!

  • My favorite part of The Last Waltz.

    Love this clip.

  • Rick, among other things, was a fantastic fiddle player.

  • this is one of the best clips from the Last Waltz. I love it. Those boys were so talented that they could make any old unrehearsed, rough and ready, half baked, bit of music into the noise of angels. Bless them all and RIP those departed.

  • @stratking69er half baked? They are way passed baked. The amount of cocaine they were doing at the time was unbelievable...watch Neil Youngs performance...so coked out.

  • don't think so, drugged he couldn't play fiddle

    fiddle asks concentration

    and rick is tuning fine

    baked here are only you

  • @leonor123456 Sorry friend they were in fact all coked up. The director of the movie and many members of the other bands there confirmed there was a "coke room".

  • @leonor123456 he was a junkie! and as one he was junked up and pretty drunk too!

  • @leonor123456he was a fucking junkie!!! course he was junked up

  • @leonor123456 are you hammered buddy? He was most definitely on drugs while he played this! The majority of the greatest musicians back in the day were big druggies! For example, my own personal favourite, Jimi Hendrix. One of the greatest guitarists to have ever lived and just listen to his beautiful music, how could he not have been stoned to hell?

  • Danko's performance in this historic concert was superb, he didn't failed any note,

despite he played the most difficult parts. Maybe he took less or he tolerated better,

but here definitely he's not baked. Don't know about the others...

  • @leonor123456 man, you're actually retarded. In basically every interview you can see him with a roach in his hand. If he's so open about doing weed he clearly does other and harder drugs. He looks ABSOLUTELY baked here.

  • This is great..and their fuckin wasted..I love it!!

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe, but Rick Danko and Richard Manuel were pretty much always like that, and with Robertson you could never tell.

  • The funny thing is, as good as that piece sounded, Rick was rusty on the fiddle. Imagine what that sounded like after they rehearsed it a few times.

  • I think it's almost better that it's unrehearsed. More authentic. And I agree with everything Twilight said!

  • I agree as well. The point I'm making however is that they ended the song because Danko was rusty on the fiddle. Had it been rehearsed a little, we might be listening to an entire song instead of a one minute video clip. Wouldn't you rather hear them do the entire song?

  • You didn't hear the whole song because they didn't feel like dragging it out. But I prefer this to nothing.

  • @stlcards9000

uh...I don't recall asking you, but thx I guess....

  • Does anyone know what type of guitar

Robbie is playing? It looks a little like

    a Gibson "O" series but I can't really

tell with the angle he's holding it in this

    video.

  • This gives me the chills. One of the most amazing things i've ever seen.

  • R.I.P. Rick Danko and Richard Manuel.

  • I agree with everything you said...man I love when Rick comes in with the harmony.

  • I love this clip. Where else can you find that kind of authenticity, raw emotion, and creativity?

  • Ode To The Band............

Music plays on in the quiet of all hearts, shout out to the world, The Band Shall Live On...............On and On.

  • Well its good enough...

  • Rick Danko was quite the amazing musician and singer

its to bad what happened to him

  • It's not like it used to be....

  • No it isnt my friend....no it isnt.

  • this song is what made me need to learn the fiddle

  • These guys were the best and nothing that I have seen compares The Beatles led in the backstrech briefly but coming out of the turn and to the wire these blessed North Americans won going away

  • The Last Waltz is just amazing... this is definitely one of the best scenes in the whole thing.

  • I'm looking all over YouTube tonight for a version of this song that comes close to this. So far, no luck.

  • The Last Waltz is an amazing show, but that is by far my favorite part. I agree, wish it was longer. Just have to watch it more I guess, HA!

  • wish this was longer
