If I were one of those Inuits I would have taken my whalebone club to the white guy making fun of my native dance. Stinking outlander go back to your abecrombe and fitch and your scum sucking beer.
As you might expect, the people here appear to have a great community spirit. There is no time for the sterile consumerism I am used to and it's rare to see.
5 stars! So you are from Alaska and this was different than Fairbanks? I never have been to Alaska but I am so curious. Do you think with over population Alaska will be more colonized like Scandinavia in a sense. A colder climate area?
@VivaTheWayfarerYouth That Old Inuit Lady ELDER is a pillar of that community. When lifting up your voice to the Almighty, He's never required anyone to be pitch perfect. A voice, any voice, is always celebrated. You need to learn 1) your place, 2) manners, 3) respect for elders, and 4) some good old fashioned generosity.
I loved the place personally, I am from England and went with 3 other mates in August 2008 on a day trip from Anchorage, people on the plane thought we were mad but it was a great experience
@hoosiertim actually no....barrow is not the most nothernmost point on the continent whoever it is in the U.S....the northernmost settlement on the continent and in the world is Alert,Canada being approximently only 500 miles away from the north pole
The owner of Pepe's is Fran. The best time to travel is around the end of June to July for people who don't want to stay indoors the whole time and experience harsh weather. Its warmed up like the vid shows and that is when our spring whaling festival, Nalukataq is. So you get to see more traditions and you even get to taste the traditional foods if you want to as well...
And of course, -129 was the lowest temperature ever recorded but if you could add antartic windchill factor, cause the winds there are super strong, you can have easily a -180 wind chill temperature or maybe more.... Kind of cold right??
The lowest temperature in North America — 81 below — was recorded on Feb. 3, 1947, at Snag, Yukon Territory. In the United States, the coldest reading was -80 at Prospect Creek, Alaska, on Jan. 23, 1971. In the lower 48, the all-time cold spot is Rogers Pass, Mont., where it was minus 70 on Jan. 20, 1954, according to NOAA records.
The lowest natural temperature ever recorded on Earth was 129 below at the Russian Vostok Station in Antarctica on July 21, 1983.
Actually, -124 is with the wind chill factor. The actual low in Barrow is close to -60. The wind makes it feel significantly colder. He felt an equivalent of -124 in calm winds because of the wind chill factor.
Be careful what you say! You sound like you know what you are talking about.

If the old Inuit lady that welcomed them into town would stop signing so high pitched and off key they'd have a decent choir.
I'd one day like to visit barrow, it would be nothing short of an adventure!

I'm planning to go there this next summer, but I have a couple questions:
Did you fly up there from Fairbanks as part of a tour? And if so, which company did you use?
Thanks!

It was a day trip booked through Alaska Airlines. I tried to post a link but YouTube zapped it. I checked, they do still offer it.

Look at how they're wearing coats in the summer. That's how you know it's cold. Imagine the winters there, lol

Chrissy Montagne, don't forget that they are talking about windchill... Could be a
-70 degrees temperature but with a good speed of the wind it can easily reach -120's
