  • looks alot like Queen Anne's Lace, or Daucus carota.. which is everywhere up here in canada i was spooked for a min. apparently we do have Hogweed up here but its not a problem... yet.

  • @grimywise It has a smaller cousin (wild or cow parsnip) too with yellow flowers. There's some good info published in Toronto at "gavan.ca/nature/giant-hogweed-vs-cow-parsnip-vs-water-hemlock-vs-wild-carrot/" And some real good images dec.ny.gov/animals/72766.html to help identify the plants that can inflict phytophotodermatitis.

    All my best --- Joe

  • I tried to make a blowgun out of a large Hogweed, because the stem is hollow.

It was very bad, that was on the north shore of lake Ontario.

  • I saw these in a state park on the east shore of Lake Ontario, New York.

  • well thank you didnt know it could burn...friends and I have struggled to rid gardens of this weed, very deep tap roots....but no ill effects experienced.

  • I hate Hogweed!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  • omg!!! never heard of this plant before till now

    thank you for the info!

  • I have at least 60 of these plant in my back yard :|

  • this has spread to areas in Pennsylvania, and anywhere around their.

  • Interesting story. Someone should write a song about this thing ...

  • @JeffFerguson yes buddy band-- genesis song-- the return of the giant hogweed lolol

  • I just got back from a pesticide class and let me tell you, the speaker of the said class explained the same way about the hogweed as you but with a twist. He went to a family in Upstate New York to investigate an infestation of weeds. He saw two kids jumping up and down on a trampoline near some hogweed. You know, I think it's pretty stupid for the family to have kids play near a very dangerous plant!! Don't worry, he obviously informed the family about that plant so nobody got hurt. Whew!

  • I'm gonna weigh about the giant hogweed in your video. I just got back from pesticide class three hours ago. You see, the speaker in the said class explained the same way about the hogweed as you did but with a twist. He went to a family in upstate New York to investigate the hogweed infestation. He saw two kids on a trampoline jumping up and down near the hogweed. You know, I think it's just stupid for the parents to have kids play near that dangerous plant! Nobody was hurt, thank God!!

  • got burnt by this plant a week ago while out fishing and it is not nice in so much pain

  • You have my sincere sympathy W W. You have to keep the affected areas of skin covered from the sun for about 3-5 years to avoid or at least minimize the UV burns from sun exposure.

    Take care

  • where is this plant originally from?

  • The Giant Hogweed originated in Russia. If you check out my playlist on this subject you can confirm this and also see some victims of the plant. Nasty burns.

Thanks for your interest. - Joe

  • god damn russia it's full of them here in latvia too

  • Fashionable country gentlemen had some cultivated wild gardens, In which they innocently planted the giant hogweed throughout the land. Botanical creature stirs, seeking revenge. Royal beast did not forget. Soon they escaped, spreading their seed, Preparing for an onslaught, threatening the human race. The dance of the giant hogweed Mighty hogweed is avenged. Human bodies soon will know our anger. Kill them with your hogweed hairs Heracleum mantegazziani Giant hogweed lives
