All of those things are illegal because they are harmful in some way, whether it be with drugs destroying their mind and body, or sex leading young people to potentially being taken advantage of. Pageants are nothing like that. They don't physically hurt anyone involved, and they encourage confidence and discipline. i used to be totally against pagents but i think that if the family isnt pushing them or forcing them and the kids truley enjoy it they should do it. there is always the issue of them feeling like if they dont have make up or fancy clothes on their ugly but its the parents job to teach them that they can be beautiful just the way they are.

Although I think these pageants are often crazy, it really is their decision. Some people call me crazy for doing dance class 5 days a week and making myself ridiculously tired because of it, but I really love to do it, so I ignore them.
I wonder how the kids will feel about this when they grow up, though, and start to want to rebel.

These kids, who are 2 and 8 and haven't even gone through puberty are wearing makeup and skimpy outfits and fake teeth just to be judged on how talented and beautiful they are. She is not being hypocritical because she has been involved in the modeling world/media and she has every right to be protective of children who are being sexualized in a way. They're too young.

why does tyra like to cut her quests' conversation with either her comment or a commercial. it leaves the conversation with her said something last.

@nujjemomo don't forget this show is transmitted live and she has an ear thing in and when her producers, directors or whatever tell her for eg. 'Tyra, cut to commercial in 5 seconds' she has to do that in order for the whole thing to work. she doesn't cut 'cause she's mean. besides, at the end of this clip it ends with the guy saying something last

Jheez, If my mum even saw me booty-dancing in mini shorts and half tops, she would upper-cut me to the next century! I mean yeah, these kids might have fun winning etc, but some of them have to deal with rejection and failure and then what happens? They are taught, (from a very small age) that you have to win everything and be perfect and fake. But that ain't life for ya. Kids should have freedom to be kids, not 30 year old midgets!

Ava's dad is not gay. What a rude thing to say. Anyway , i think pageants are a good self esteem booster , for a pretty child. Trying a couple pageants and seeing how the child does should give you a good perspective on whether she's good at it or not. Im a girl , so i know how it feels , when someone tells you youre pretty. I know how it feels, when i dress up, and get all pretty and take pictures of myself lol. Girls just want to be told theyre pretty !

@luvtwilight14 No, pageants are not just like modeling. Tyra began modeling in 11th grade. These kids, who are 2 and 8 and haven't even gone through puberty are wearing makeup and skimpy outfits and fake teeth just to be judged on how talented and beautiful they are. She is not being hypocritical because she has been involved in the modeling world/media and she has every right to be protective of children who are being sexualized in a way. They're too young.

Pageants are ok, but I don't think that they should wear so much makeup...they look like mini teenagers! It's a little scary. Otherwise I don't mind as long as it's the little girls choice.

I think 2 years old is a little young for child pageants...maybe 7-10 years old is alright at least they're not so vulnerable and have already developed interests of their own.
