  • Those coppers at the end look kinda cyber-y.

  • @Sjohnson20 AHAHAHA I thought I reconized the over all tone or feel of this movie! I love a lot of Takashi Miike's movies. I can really see some similarities in the directors. Did you end up buying this movie when it came out? It looks really vintage ya know. I think I would enjoy this movie on DVD, but many Japanese movies go out of print fast in America and I don't think I'll be able to find it. Do you have any ideas?

  • two forms, punk culture films set in dysotopic societies about worlds already crumbling from a culture that was highly industrialized or films more in tune with the works of Shiji Tsukamoto or Shozin Fukui that deal with characters dealing with violence and sexuality in a grotesque fashion in a world that is industrialized and restrained...almost hidden, underground as the film makers themselves. It almost dada like, as most predict the same dysotopic future or bring about the end themselves.

  • Actuallyno Japanese Cyber Punk is very different from American Cyber punk, many attribute it to works of a small group of directors that came out of the 80s, they're films are less about science and technology and built more on the ideas of industrialization and absurdity. The films due in fact have a connection to punk and rock, as some utilize very "noise" oriented audio to stimulate your audio senses as well as visual stimulation. Japanese Cyber Punk can be interpreted in

  • @saikosomatic Dystopian would be a better description, in that case. ;-)

  • @Dystopian420

Dystopian "Tokyo Cyber Punk" would be a better equivalent, Japanese Cyber Punk is a different genre some would argue...but really that's all semantics some. Good movies none the less and they all deal with crumbling societies in one way or another. Burst City can be comparable say to Akira or the american equivalent of Class of 1984, even Aussi's Mad Max...where we saw the youth culture as what to be feared and would overtake our ideals of civilized society.

  • @saikosomatic I can agree with that. I just hope we will all try to move beyond the dystopia. We live in it, we can learn from this genre, but I hope we will not get comfortable with it. I believe it is a thing to overcome. I believe technology should advance and be clean, green and free. Be well.

  • This is more of a mix of dieselpunk and cyberpunk. :I

  • Cyber Paraszt.

  • Has anyone actually watched this film? I've seen this movie several times and I would have to say it has a lot of cyberpunk elements in it. It takes place in a dystopian future, with oppressive corporations and government, shows many examples of "low life", and generally fits the cyberpunk aesthetic quite well . The only thing it's lacking is the emphasis on high tech but everything else is there just about.

  • @shakinyostar

    no.she was not born.

  • this movie have cyberpunk atmosfere world but no have cyberpunk music genre

  • Что это за нахуй такой то?

  • What in the butt is happening in this trailer? It is like the retarded cousins of the Star Wars speeder cycle pilots decided to get tough

  • i havent even watched a sogo ishii film yet but i can tell already he'll be one of my favorite directors! haha

  • Wouah, those Japs sure know how to be funny!

  • I barley see any cyber punk

  • 1982

  • Yeah :)

    I like this film...

I think this film is one exempl for cyberpunk.

I never understood why techno, trance and electronic music is consider to be the "oficial " music of cyberpunk...

    Punk rock is the shit

  • @remotecontrol1324

The mechanistic nature of those music styles tends to blend in well with the themes, although I concur that Punk's very appropriate.

  • EPIC!!!!!!

  • What is this about? I feel the punk, but sense that a glaring lack of cybery stuff is involved.

  • This movie is pretty Chaotic! :)

  • This looks fucking sweet, I'm gonna see if netflix has right now

  • hahahaha i know who are you?!?!

  • holy shit never heard of it

  • ...so where's the cyber? Can't have CYBERpunk w/o CYBER.

  • they all have microchips installed in their brains, but you cant see it ofcourse

  • @Foxboy106 cyberpunk is not only about tech its mainly about different parts of the society .Read Cyberpunk 2020 its a guide to a RPG game you might not be interested in but it also explains everything about cyberpunk societies.

  • @GReg22334 dude... i own almost all the books for 2020. i've read neuromancer, seen ghost in the shell, bladerunner n all that jazz. to me, w/o the tech, its futuristic noir. cyberpunk = cyberware dimming the line between machine and human. but that's just my definition.

  • @Foxboy106 read little brother by corey doctorow.

  • @Foxboy106 BTW have you read RIVER OF GODS i think thats something similar.

Mass Effect has a same feeling to cyberpunk.

I think both of those have an advanced modern take on the genre.

Oh and definetly the new DEUS EX game.

  • @SMS2RR never heard of river of gods. deus ex, i beat the original. mass effect... i think that's a game. never played it.

  • ........what the lol

  • lol, do you by any chance live in the reichstag?

That could explain why a comrade tried to enter your room

  • You do know that the Soviet Union has been dissolved right?

  • i`m kiddin cyberpunk rules!!!

  • WTF?!?!?!

  • Dig that psychobilly music!

  • i am cyberpunk

  • its not sci-fi at all.

    WTF!

  • idiotic tripe

  • Its called gGoogle. Type define:(insert word here)

    ie: define:cyberpunk

  • who cares what you want

    stfu

  • get bent, you wabanese buttmunch

  • This is Akira done right!

  • This'll be New York in about 2 years, you can bet your ass on that one.

  • Ist a shame that there is no good cyber punk movie only books :(

  • Blade Runner? (1986)

HardWare? (1990)- 2 classics. Not good, great! Well, Blade Runner anyway! Anime genre also has some classics: Akira, Cyber City Oedo 808 etc.. I'll admit the genre is certainly lacking, but there are some gems :)

  • Yeah thats right but forget about AD police and Bubblegum crisis so damn my favourite ever XD.

  • don't forget about Snatcher, the video game from the great mind behind Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima

  • true

  • Takanori Jinnai as Kikujirou Kitano! (Takeshi Kitano's father)

  • I don't think Burst City's cyberpunk either. When people call this cyberpunk I think it's just the exotic factor - I don't think a film like this could've been made about Western punk, so when we see something like BC it probably seems a bit fantastical and grandiose, and the best term for that is cyberpunk over here although it does a film like this no justice.

Also, the film's a fucking mess. I mean that as a compliment. This is no Sid and Nancy.

  • Cyberpunk is a some type of science fiction set in dystopian country where some Multicorp for short controls mostly of economics and the life is poor.

Cyberpunk also includes rebels, hackers, cyber implants, virtual reality and cyberspace.

And cyberpunk has nothing to do with punk or metal or rock.

  • I wouldnt say "nothing to do with punk", i believe your definition misses the political aspect of dissent against a dying world. The symbolism of punk rock that is apathetic and not giving a shit due to powerlessness is represented in most anti-heroes of cyberpunk.

  • I would say, you dont know what CyberPunk is, you got to read my pal, read read read read read, but you have to read well complete and rigth.......

  • @PhreakStep Wow it looks like our current era !!

  • @GilbertsV1 Looks like our current era without the Punk because everyone now is too piss weak to rise up and instead bow down to shit like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.

  • @blade004 you made a point ! And everyone just seems to want to fuck and leave out ! No more feelings, and no more love !

  • @GilbertsV1 You made a point as well! Its true that people have the "me me me me" mentality and couldn't care less about the well being of anyone else, and yes, they just want to fuck and leave.

I am strongly considering sponsoring a kid that is living in Mongolia, i just need to factor it into my budget, but when i look around with the day to day, most people are with the "fuck you" attitude.

    Pleasure to know :)

  • @blade004 pleasure... not really, but you are right ! What can we do to have a better future for ourselves and for our families... i really don't know !! I would like to answer !

  • @PhreakStep Yeah, it's really not a very good name--it leads to misconceptions.

And then you have people wanting to turn it into some "philosophy" or "movement". It's just a literary sub-genre of sci-fi (albeit my favorite one).

  • @PhreakStep their fashion revolve around punk and rock society so yes it has little to do with it.

  • @PhreakStep oh you're right dude, they should have looked up webster's definition of cyberpunk when they made this film in the early eighties. who are you to dictate a name?

  • @PhreakStep Low life, high tech - In other words. And saying this as someone who loves Metal and Punk, they have everything to do with the "low life" aspect! :D

  • @PhreakStep Well, kinda... it has something to do with Punk mentality.

  • @PhreakStep

the plot revolves around a mega corporation building a nuclear reactor in a bunch of punk rock mutants neighborhood. cyberpunk is a made up word. its close enough for the title of a youtube video. stop being butthurt

  • @PhreakStep Nothing to do with punk, are you kidding me? Please tell me you are, punk music if you listen to bands like green day and the ramones its politically left wing and anti corp. Us anarchists started punk, and don't get us confused with that rebel label. God we hate that.

  • fuckin' nuts!!!!anyone know where i can get the song?

  • Seems a little mad max to me

  • Akiraaaaaa!!!!

  • VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY NICE! It looks like a Japanese Mad Max, but it looks very good!

  • Whoa!!

  • great film, great visuals, great action, great speed, and great sound.

  • how many more times can you say great im interested

  • looks radical for a Japanese punk movie. Another title I'll see about getting off the internet
