I've hated Chelsea ever since this day, compounded a hundred times over by the 1970 FA Cup Finals, the league result at Stamford Bridge in 1970 being the true measure of the two sides (5-2 to Leeds). What a pleasure to see Terry's pricks getting a good stuffing today. Lol.
Yes my friend. Leeds were on the end of some shocking refereeing decisions back then. Tinkler, Burns. Seems the FA really wanted to "do a job" on Leeds back then. Not to mention all those dodgy "mafia influenced" refs we got in Europe too. ( AC Milan, Bayern Munich) It seems the whole world and its dog wanted to bury Leeds. Could be one of the reasons that, even in the third tier, there is such a massive show of allegiance for the club by the many thousands of loyal supporters. MOT
well said , i remember this game with great sadness , i was there aged 10 standing on the Holt end on a stool and i remember crying my eyes out after it , my beloved Leeds have been plagued by bad refereeing decisions ever since , far more than any other side , the corrupt bastards
@englishrover I'm an Evertonian..Bet I can match you decision for decision in Mersey Derbies alone. :) Brian Hamilton in the 77 semi final is probably the most famous.
the ref apparently claimed afterwards the wall wasn't ready....offside had nothing to do with it. clearly a good goal wiped for no reason. Spurs dealt comfortably with chelsea in the final.
Come to think of it the second goal has at least three LUFC players offside too, bakc in those days you just had to stand offside forthe ref to blow up, sorry to further spoil the nice little conspiracy you've clearly got going.
Not too sure about the second one but that first Leeds goal, and I hate to break it to ya, is most definitely off side... Like I say number 2 looks good though...
