I haven't seen any other part of this movie except for this scene, but I must believe he finds such passion, such heat in her that he could care less about her eye or that patch. When you look deeper than the surface, you will find there is much more to be found. Remember: "Don't judge a book by its cover." And her cover isn't that bad, frankly.

The script is not good! I think the director had too much to do with it, and forced that dumb scene and idea of his pretty young daughter falling in love with that old man....not good for this history film!
