@Veerleke - it also would have been much more efficient to have one spoken language. Why does there need to be different languages in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium? same thing.... :)
What are the differences between ASL, BSL and IrishSL? Is there an international sign language? Why did they even make national sign languages? It would have been so much more efficient to make it an international one, than you make the community that can speak with eachother much bigger from the beginning.
@veerleke ASL, BSL, and ISL are all completely separate languages, and are used in different countries. There is no international sign language, because just like spoken language, we're very distant, so when these sign languages were invented, we weren't able to travel easily and share one language, other places developed their own. If people in Africa weren't exposed to the English language, they wouldn't know it, so they had their own. They tried to make one international, but it failed.
i think i saw you in limerick about 3 weeks ago.. the woman i'm working for brought me to a meeting to see interpreters.. were you john boscos interpreter? :D
OMH thats John Bosco behind you!! hahaha I know him!! I do ISL too, its great to see it :)yup Isl is Irish sign, and it was originally made up from ASL and French sign language, so thats why you could recognise it :) :)
Moving to Galway, my partner is losing his hearing. Scared about learning ISL after doing BSL level 1 - signing the alphabet on one hand looks difficult!
@ashlion - yes, go search YouTube for mysticvean, she has loads of great lessons.
